Uganda National Beach Soccer Team suffered their first defeat at the ongoing COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship to Egypt on Wednesday.

Egypt defeated the Sand Cranes, winning 7-2 in the final group B game played at the Beach Arena in Durban, South Africa.

Hassane Hussein opened the scoring for Egypt scoring a hat trick before Ismaeel Bahgat came through with a brace.

Moustafa Abdelmoneim and Moustafa Shaaban scored a goal apiece to further dent Uganda’s record.

Uganda’s goals were scored by Ambrose Kigozi and Brian Nkuubi. The Sand Cranes will therefore face Senegal in the semifinals on Friday.

The West African giants are the reigning Champions in Africa and Uganda will face them in the forthcoming Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Mozambique next month.

The other Semifinal at the COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship will see Egypt facing Mozambique.

Wakiso Giants coach John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda has confirmed his 28-player squad for the new Uganda Premier League season.

Ayala has included his seven signings – Bashir Ssekagya, Mikdad Ssenyonga, Pascal Irasa, Apollo Kagogwe, Norman Ojik, Lincoln Mukisa, Collins Onega, and Marvin Nyanzi.

Mubarak Nsubuga and Hassan Wasswa Dazo miss out due to long-term injuries.

The club also confirmed the new captain list with Lawrence Bukenya and Rahmat Ssenfuka handed roles as first and second assistant captains to Hassan Ssenyonjo respectively.

The Purple Sharks also confirmed squad numbers with five changes as Ibrahim Kasule, Titus Ssematimba, Lukuya, Ambrose Alinda and Frank Ssebuufu reverted to shirt nos. 10, 8, 1, 6 and 9 from 8, 6, 27, 28 and 19 respectively.

The International School Sport Federation (ISF) reappointed Justus Mugisha as the president of the International School Sport Federation (ISF) Technical commission (Football) for a four-year tenure (2022-2026).

This is the second time that Mugisha is serving on such a committee after a successful four years term in office.

Mugisha, a director at Standard High School, Zzana is also the vice president of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

The ISF Executive Committee (EC) meeting held in Brussels, Belgium early this month (September) confirmed Mugisha’s appointment.

Mugisha was rewarded with the ISF Awards of excellence; applauding him for the special role he has executed over the years in schools sport.

URA has confirmed the signing of defender Eric Senjobe just three days before the start of the Uganda Premier League action.

The left-back center-half joins on a two-year contract after departing relegated Police FC.

“We are delighted to announce that Senjobe Eric has joined the tax collectors on a 2-year contract,” a statement on the club website read.

“Senjobe has been training with the tax collectors for the past 3 weeks and has impressed the coaching team with his defensive ability.

“He is expected to strengthen the backline as the tax collectors challenge for silverware in the 2022/23 Football Season.”

He joins new signings James Begisa, Justine Opiro, Ronald Andabati Mawa, George Ssenkaaba, Salim Abdallah, Michael Lubowa, and goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa among the new arrivals.

Meanwhile, former KCCA striker Derrick Nsibambi is also expected to be unveiled according to Kawowo Sports.

URA has also extended the contracts of Najib Fesali, Hassan Kalega, and Alou Kokas ahead of the new campaign.

The tax collectors have parted ways with Ashraf Mandela, Steven Mukwala, Cromwell Rwothomio, Mikdad Ssenyonga, Farouk Katongole, Moses Sseruyidde, Ivan Sserubiri, and Arafat Galiwango.

Herbert Achai and Peter Magambo have been left out of KCCA’s finalized squad list for the 2022-23 Uganda Premier League season.

The two defenders are currently injured and will not be available for the first round according to the club’s website.

Achai suffered an injury at the end of last season and underwent surgery on his knee while Magambo is dealing with a recurring injury.

“Peter Magambo has not been licensed for the first round of the 2022/23 season. The defender is recovering from a knee injury sustained during pre-season that will keep him out for the most part of the first round. He has already embarked on rehabilitation and should be up for consideration in the second round of the season.

“Herbert Achai has also not been licensed for the first round of the 2022/23 season. The left-back underwent knee surgery during pre-season. He is expected back in the second round of the 2022/23 season,” read a statement on the club website.

The two are products of the KCCA Soccer Academy and the club also confirmed shirt numbers for the season with returning Allan Okello given shirt 10 previously worn by Yasser Mugerwa.

Kampala Queens maintained their blemishless start to the new FUFA Women Super League after winning their respective games on matchday two.

Kampala Queens edged rivals She Corporate in Nakawa having needed to rise from a goal down to overcome reigning Champions She Corporate.

Favour Nambatya scored She Corporate’s first goal but Kampala Queens replied back with goals from Resty Nanziri and Shamirah Nalugya.

Victory meant Kampala Queens move to six points from two games.

Meanwhile, Uganda Martyrs overcame new comers Asubo Gafford Ladies in a 5-3 thriller played on Saturday.

Latifa Nakasi scored twice while Brenda Munyana, Kevin NNakacwa and an own goal helped the school side to their second win in as many games.

Miriam Nakayiwa (brace) and Nakilyowa got the goals for Asubo Gafford Ladies FC.

Uganda national beach soccer team started their journey at the COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship with a victory over Tanzania.

The Sand Cranes secured a 4-2 win in the game played on Sunday at the Beach Arena in Durban, South Africa.

Joshua Lubwama’s early goal handed the Sand Cranes a position of comfort before player of the match Ambrose Kigozi netted a brace in the second half.

Isma Kawawulo sealed the Sand Cranes’ victory with action set to return Monday against Mauritius, victory sending the teams to the semi-finals.

Uganda is pooled in group B alongside Tanzania, Mauritius and Egypt. The tournament will be used as part of preparations for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations next year.

UCU Lady Cardinals beat Rines SS 2-0 in FUFA Women Super League early kickoff tie played at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

Jawuhala Nabaggala and Asurat Naluggwa scored for UCU against Rines who suffered their second straight loss after a similar defeat to Uganda Martyrs in their season opener last weekend.

It’s UCU’s first game this season as their would-be opponent on matchday one Kawempe Muslim has been away at FEASSA games in Arusha, Tanzania.

In the 14th minute, Nabaggala put visitors in front with a good finish at the far post off Aloyo Peace’s loose ball.

At half an hour mark, Rines had a chance to equalize but Shakirah Nalule’s penalty following Nabisaalu’s foul on Kayesu was saved by goalkeeper Nalongo.

A few moments to halftime, Rines had a chance to level matters again but Anita Nantume’s freekick near the box was parried away by Nalongo before it was cleared out of danger by Bridget Nabisaalu.

However, five minutes into the second half, Nalugwa doubled the visitors’ lead when she squeezed the ball into the top right corner following her initial brilliant footwork to create the angle she needed.

In the 64th, Rines had another chance to get back into the game, but Yaseem was denied by goalkeeper Nalongo who was brilliant on the day.

Rines will take a long trip to Soroti to play Olila High School in their next fixture while UCU will host Asubo-Gafford Ladies on the same day (2nd October).

Spanish Segunda side CD Leganes has confirmed the capture of KCCA FC left back Ibrahim Juma.

Juma will spend the rest of the 2022/23 season on loan at the Madrid-based second-tier side.

The statement released by the club read; “C.D. Leganés has signed 18-year-old Ugandan left-back Ibrahim Juma for its youth teams.

“The player arrives on loan with a buy option clause from Kampala C.C. from his country and will join the club in the coming months once the paperwork has been completed.”

Juma was promoted to KCCA senior team last season after having represented Uganda in U17 AFCON in 2019.

He made his debut for KCCA against Masindi’s Doves FC in the Uganda Cup Round of 16 games where he registered an assist for Sadat Anaku to node home KCCA FC’s winners.

Last month, he captained the KCCA U20 team to the inaugural Cambiasso Rainbow U20 triumph in Tanzania where they defeated Azam FC in the final.

He is also capped by Uganda’s Senior National Team having made his competitive debut over the weekend in an African Nations Championship qualifier game against Tanzania.

Kampala Queens head coach Alimiah Kato feels his charges are ready to upset defending champions She Corporate ahead of their tie in the FUFA Women’s Super League on Sunday.

Kato refuted claims of his team being tagged “Money Bags” following their heavy transfer activity.

“We did recruitment in areas we felt needed bolstering,” he told the media.

“We don’t look at ourselves as money bags but rather a team with good players that are capable of delivering our target of winning the League this season.”

Kato added they will aim to secure maximum points on the road. “We respect them (She Corporate) because they are the reigning Champions but we don’t fear them.

“We shall go all out on Sunday to fight for the three points.”

Kampala Queens began the season on a high, winning 5-0 against newcomers Asubo Gafford Ladies FC.

With the addition of defender Jamila Nabulime and forward Hasifah Nassuna, Kampala Queens look stronger on paper.
