FUFA has declared that Crested Cranes’ technical positions are vacant after relieving the current technical team of their duties.

According to a statement published on the FUFA Website on Tuesday, the decision was taken during the 27th FUFA Executive Committee meeting that sat last Wednesday.

The FUFA Executive Committee declared that the positions of the technical team of Crested Cranes have fallen vacant following the completion of their assignment for which they were appointed that ended with the WAFCON Finals in Morocco.

FUFA will declare as and when the application process for the vacant positions starts.

Crested Cranes technical team comprised George Lutalo (Head Coach), Edward Kaziba (Assistant Coach), James Magala (Goalkeeping Coach), Arthur Kyesimira (Fitness trainer), Prossy Nalwadda (Kits Manager), and Paul Ssali (Team Manager).

Lutalo and company have been in charge for a year, winning the Cecafa Women’s Championship and guiding the team to (and playing at) the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The 2022 Buganda Masaza Cup football tournament reached the quarter-final after match day 10 played on Sunday, September 4.

Defending champions Buddu, last season’s runners-up Buwekula, five-time record winners Gomba, and three-time champions Mawokota, Bulemeezi, Busiro, Ssingo, and Kyaggwe are all through to the quarter-finals.

In the Bulange group; Buwekula topped the pool with 22 points after a hard-fought 2-1 win against Butambala.

At the Kabulasoke PTC Core playground, home side Gomba overcame Kabula 2-0 to finish with 21 points, second behind Buwekula.

In the Muganzirazza group, Busiro edged rivals Bulemeezi 1-0 at the Ssentema playground while Bugerere lost 0-1 to visiting Kyaggwe in a neutral venue at the Kasana playground in Luweero.

In the Masengere group, Mawogola was beaten terribly at home 0-3 by the reigning champions Buddu in Ssembabule.

The quarter-final draw will be held on Wednesday, 7th September 2022 at Bulange in Mengo, Kampala.

This annual tournament is organized by the Buganda Kingdom under the ministry of sports, leisure, and recreation department.

Scottish League One side Peterhead Football Club has officially announced the signing of Uganda Cranes defender Enock Walusimbi.

Walusimbi, 23, agreed on a year-long deal with the Peterhead, Aberdeenshire-based franchise.

The former Express FC captain had traveled to Scotland alongside Sadat Anaku in a deal orchestrated by Festoweb Sports management.

Peterhead manager Jim McInally says he had to be patient in his pursuit of Walusimbi.

“We made a move for Enock about four weeks ago and there have been a few hurdles to overcome but the contract has been signed now which is a huge step forward and a bit of a coup for the club.

“We are now just awaiting clearance from the Scottish Football Association and his work visa.

“We said we would leave no stone unturned in terms of getting players to the club and Enock’s signing is another example of that.”

Walusimbi has earned four caps with the Uganda Cranes and captained the U-23 International side Uganda Kobs.

FUFA Women Super League side Kampala Queens have announced the signing of Grace Aluka.

Aluka joins Queens on a two-year deal from Olila High School and is expected to be an integral addition for coach Hamza Lutalo.

Aluka is versatile player who started as defender but was deployed as a striker the past season and scored nine goals for Olila High School.

She carries a lot of experience in the in the top-flight league having won the title with Kawempe Muslim were she was deployed as a defender before joining Olila High.

Aluka has also been in the national team set up having featured for the U17 and U20 national teams.

She is the fifth signing for Kampala Queens joining Sumaya Komuntale, Asia Nakibuuka, Daisy Nakaziro and Teddy Najjuma.

Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has promised each member of the Uganda Cranes team (players and officials) a qualification bonus of $2,500.

The team made it to the finals of the 2022 African Nations Championship finals for the sixth successive time after they defeated Tanzania on Saturday at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

They required three goals from Moses Waiswa, Richard Basangwa, and Rogers Mato to progress 4-0 on aggregate.

FUFA President, Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim made the announcement in the dressing room in the company of Minister of State for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang, NCS General Secretary Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel, and FUFA Executive Members.

“I am extremely happy that we have been able to secure qualification to CHAN. As FUFA, our target is to enter and qualify for every tournament,” Magogo was quoted by the Federation website.

It is not easy to make the sixth successive finals and the target is to perform better than the previous attempts.

“It is not our policy to go into games without promising qualification bonus which we didn’t make this time round.

“But together with the FUFA Executive, we have agreed to give $2,000 to every member of the team as a qualification bonus.”

Minister Ogwang topped up $500 for every member of the team thus making a grand total of $2,500.

Peterhead Football Club has announced the signing of Ugandan internationalist defender Enock Walusimbi.

Walusimbi joins the Scottish League One side from Express FC which he captained for the past two seasons and won the league title and Cecafa Kagame Cup.

Former Uganda Cranes midfielder Micheal Azira has been nominated for the New Mexico United and Elevate Performance, Health and Wellness man of the month award.

The campaign aims at “spotlighting top level on-field and off-field performance and leadership of New Mexico United players,” according to the club website.

Azira has been a revelation since he joined the United Soccer League Championship (USLC) club on 1 February 2021.

The fans are now remaining with less than 48 hours to cast their votes, and this month’s winner will be announced on social media.

Azira has so far made 30 appearances for New Mexico United. In 2022 alone, he has made 14 appearances, playing 673 minutes in both the USLC and US Open Cup.

Former Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango has congratulated the team on making the 2022 African Nations Championship following their 3-0 win over Tanzania in Kitende.

Uganda needed three goals from Moses Waiswa, Richard Basangwa, and Rogers Mato to progress 4-0 on aggregate.

Travis Mutyaba scored the team’s lone goal when they defeated Tanzania away from home and today was another time of reckoning.

Onyango posted a congratulatory message on his social media after the perfect outing; “Well done lads upon qualifying for the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria.

“We muscle our strength and force in East Africa and we command dominance against other teams in the region. Go shine, @UgandaCranes👏.”

The victory meant Uganda will feature in the tournament in Algeria after making appearances in 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020.

Uganda came into this match after winning the away tie from the reverse fixture a few days ago. Meanwhile, Tanzania had also made changes in the technical bench with Honour Janza replacing Kim Poulsen on an interim basis.

Waiswa found the back of the net from the penalty spot in the 16th minute and even though Tanzania kept huffing and puffing, their efforts were not enough, the match heading into halftime in the lead.

At the onset of the second half, Uganda made changes, Basangwa replacing Martin Kizza and before long, the former got onto the scoresheet in the 54th minute.

Mato sealed the victory 21 minutes later to hand Uganda the famous victory. The win meant Uganda will feature in the tournament in Algeria after making appearances in 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020.

Vipers’ official ninth signing in the transfer window Cromwell Rwothomio has vowed to fight for playing time after signing a three-year contract.

The forward joins the Venoms from URA for an undisclosed fee and is deemed a replacement for departed Central African Republic striker Ceaser Manzoki who moved to Dalian of China.

“I’m very happy to be here at a big club. I have played against Vipers SC several times,” said Rwothomio.

“I saw that it was a big club with passionate supporters. It’s a really great club; I hope to be very successful here.

“I know it is going to be a lot of hard work, but I am ready to do everything I can to get the most amount of minutes as possible.”

He will compete for a place with Yunus Sentamu, Milton Karisa, Ibrahim Oriti, and Nigerian Abubaker Lawal among others.

Vipers’ other new signings are Alfred Macumu Mudekereza, Olivier Osomba, Isa Mubiru, Ashraf Mandela, Murushid Juuko, Marvin Joseph Youngman, Abdu Lumala, and Lawal.
