She Corporate Football Club have named their final squad that will play at this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers.

The team has been undergoing residential training for the past month and in the squad head coach Issa Hassan Yusuf named, there are three goalkeepers, seven defenders, five midfielders and six forwards.

All the new signings that the side has so far announced in Zahara Nankya, Phoebe Banura, Cissy Nakate, Esther Naluyimba, Anita Namata, Jackline Nakasi, Joan Ainembabazi, and Spencer Nakacwa are all part of the squad.

The team is expected to depart Uganda for Dar es Salaam today.

The Fufa Women Super League champions are pitted in Group B alongside hosts Simba SC (Tanzania), Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan), and Garde Republican (Djibouti).

Their campaign starts on Sunday, 14th against Yei Joint Stars at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium.

Uganda Premier League club KCCA FC has confirmed the arrival of Shaban Muhammad on a 2-year deal at the club.

The striker returns to the club for a second stint after featuring at the outfit in the 2017/18 season before joining Morocco’s Raja Casablanca.

Shaban is pleased to come back to Kasasiro with a new resolve to show how a better person he has transformed into.

I am so happy to return to KCCA FC. This is my second stint at the club and I come with experience that i have earned over the years. I am a better player and I want to show that on the field of play. My role as a striker is to score goals and its these goals that will help us win trophies and get back to the CAF competitions because that is where this club should be playing.

Shaban, becomes the seventh player to join KCCA FC in this transfer window after Tshisungu Kankonde, Moses Waiswa, Ssenoga Muhamed, and teenagers Faisal Wabyoona, Saidi Mayanja, and Allan Enyou.

Ugandan footballer Steven Sserwadda found the back of the net for New York Red Bulls II as they claimed a 2-1 win over Atlanta United 2 in the United Soccer League.

Red Bulls II was looking to bounce back after falling 2-1 to Memphis 901 FC and the returns came through first in the 82nd minute when Sserwadda netted to level the score.

Sserwadda looped over the Atlanta United 2 goalkeeper Giannis Nikopolidis from the edge of the area after he had been released in the left wing.

The goal was Sserwadda’s second of the season before O’vonte Mullings scored the winner in the 90th minute.

This was a consecutive loss for Atlanta United 2 after falling to Birmingham Legion FC, 6-0 in their previous encounter.

StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC will face Olympic Real de Bangui of Central Africa Republic in the first round of the CAF Champions League.

This was confirmed following the draw held on Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt ahead of the kickoff Africa’s premier club competition.

The Venoms will visit Bangui between 9th-11th September before the return leg at st. Mary’s Stadium Kitende between 16th-18th September.

The winner on aggregate will progress to the second round and face DR Congo Giants TP Mazembe.

The winner of the second round progresses to the group stage and the loser drops to CAF Confederation Cup playoff stage.

Bangui is the defending champion of Central Africa Republic league after winning the title for a 13th time last season.

Former Uganda Cranes tactician Sebastien Desabre has been named as DR Congo head coach.

The 46-year-old ended his contract with French Ligue 2 side Chamois Niortais and replaces ex-Inter Milan tactician Hector Cuper.

Cuper who was sacked in June as the Leopards failed to pick a point in their first two 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games.

“I am very happy to announce that I am the new coach of DR Congo,” Desabre tweeted as translated from French.

“I thank the management of Chamois Niortais, the players, my staff, the whole club, and the supporters for two rewarding years.”

The French man has managed in Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco in Africa.

His biggest achievement was leading Cranes to Afcon 2019 finals and guiding the nation to the round of 16 at the tournament held in Egypt.

Vipers Sports Club has announced the signing of experienced central-defender Murushid Juuko.

The central defender who returns to the club after nine years has signed a two-year contract that keeps him at Kitende up to 2024.

Juuko joins the Venoms after playing the last two seasons at Express Football Club where he won the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and the Cecafa Kagame Cup.

The 28-year-old played at Vipers between 2009-2013.

“I have a fantastic history with this amazing club. I started my career here when l was young and of course, I’m so happy to be back home after 9 years.

“So I’m really glad and looking forward to giving my best for this club once again. I think it’s the best decision that I have made. It’s right on point in my opinion.

“I moved from Express FC now to Vipers SC, it’s a new chapter, I’m so happy and glad, and I want to carry on again, to make history, to try to help the Venoms achieve great results, to make a mark again,” Juuko said in his first interview with Vipers SC Media.

Juuko becomes our eighth signing in the ongoing transfer window. Alfred Macumu Mudekereza, Olivier Osomba, Abubakar Lawal, Isa Mubiru, Marvin Joseph Youngman, Ashraf Mandela, and Abdu Lumala are the other new Venoms.

Club Career

Uganda National Beach Soccer Team, Sand Cranes, have qualified for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations after overcoming Comoros.

The side put up a spirited fight on Sunday at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru to win the return leg 4-3 and advanced to the continental showpiece 9-5 on aggregate.

Nicholas Mwere was the star of the return leg as he notched a hat trick while Brian Nkuubi got the other goal for the victors.

The Sand Cranes started like a house with Nkuubi firing the side ahead in the first minute of the game before Mwere came off the bench to score twice as Uganda led 3-0 at the end of the first period.

Moeva Chakira scored twice before Ismael Ahmed got the equalizer for the visitors who were better in the second period.

Mwere once again came off the bench to net the winner in the last stanza.

It is the second successive time Uganda is qualifying for Beach Soccer AFCON.

Bul Football Club has continued to strengthen its squad ahead of next season with the addition of Denis Mwemezi.

Mwemezi joins the Eastern Giants from league champions Vipers SC on a two-year contract that will keep him at the Jinja-based side till 2024.

“Mwemezi is a young player nurtured by one of the best clubs in the country. He gives in 100%, he is ready to learn and I think he will help the club achieve its objectives,” head coach Alex Isabirye commented.

The winger expressed his delight at joining BUL and revealed his targets at the new home.

“I am super excited to join one of the best and big clubs in the country. It’s the club that I think will help me grow and advance in my footballing career,” Mwemezi said as quoted by the club website.

“My target is to play and help the team achieve more success, trophies, and at least take the club into CAF confederation cup group stages,” he added.

He becomes BUL’s 7th signing in this transfer window after striker Frank Kalanda, goalkeeper Tom Ikara, Emmanuel Obua, defender Ronald Otti, midfielder Athony Mayanja, and defender Benon Tahomera.

Semifinal Results

Kigulu progressed to the finals of the fifth edition of the MTN Uganda-sponsored Busoga Masaza Cup.

Kigulu achieved the feat at the expense of Bugabula having edged the tense shootout 5-4 at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe after normal time had ended one goal apiece.

Ismail Tamubula gave Kigulu the lead in the 28th minute but Majidu Kazindula drew Bugabula level with a 61st-minute header.

Neither side could add to the tally with the semifinal clash calling for penalties to decide the winner of the tie.

In a tense shootout, Rajab Waiswa Kasango, the top scorer of this year’s tournament missed Bugabula’s sixth penalty as Kigulu players ran into celebration.

Kigulu netted 5 of their 6 kicks while Bugabula missed twice to end things 5-4 in favour of Kigulu.

In the final, Kigulu will now meet Bukooli Namayingo who progressed on Tuesday following a 2-0 win over Butembe at the same ground. Andrew Wandera and Ashraf Sanyu were on target for Bukooli.

The final between Kigulu and Bukooli Namayingo that will be graced by His Royal Highness the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV is slated for Saturday, 13th August at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja City.

Bashir Sekagya has joined Wakiso Giants on a two-year contract, the club has confirmed.

The former KCCA, UPDF, and Vipers star joins the Purple Sharks as a free agent after closing his chapter with Kenya Premier League side, Wazito FC.

“Wakiso Giants is pleased to confirm that Bashir Ssekagya has joined the club, signing a contract until 2024 with an option for a further year…,” read a statement on the club website.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for me to continue my growth as a goalkeeper with such an ambitious club and will do all in my abilities to help the club achieve their ambitions.”

Sekagya becomes the club’s first signing under new coach John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda.

“His talent and potential is undoubted and we are glad he chosen us. He comes with a bit more experience and we believe he will be of value to the squad.”
