NEC is set to take on Police in the Uganda Premier League encounter at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Tuesday evening.

However, NEC comes into this after falling 1-0 to league newcomers Lugazi in the previous matchday.

NEC head coach Hussein Mbalangu has urged his players to put the loss behind them and ensure a comeback as they take on the Cops.

“The league is a marathon and we shall bounce back. Of course, we mourned that day after the loss but we have since moved on and focus is now on the Police game,” he said.

A victory for the hosts takes back NEC to the log summit who will be two points ahead of the Kasasiro Boys.

In the previous season, NEC managed to eliminate Police from the Uganda Cup as it made it all the way to the finals of the prestigious tournament.

FUFA Women Super League side Kampala Queens has confirmed Ethiopian gaffer Asefa Firew Hailegebreal as the club’s new head coach.

Firew has joined the Queens of Soccer on a two-year employment contract that will see her at the club until 2026.

The development was confirmed via the club’s official social media handles on Monday, November 4, 2024.

“Kampala Queens is pleased to announce Asefa Firew Hailegebreal as head coach on a two-year employment contract,” the club posted.

The Ethiopian gaffer replaces Charles Ayiekoh Lukula who was relieved from duty last week.

Asefa is an experienced gaffer who has previously worked with female teams such as Ethiopia U20 Team that clinched the CECAFA Championship in 2021.

After five games played, Kampala Queens are second on the log with nine points, four behind Kawempe Muslim.

Uganda Premier League side Kitara find themselves in 14th position with four points out of the possible 28.

The Royals have suffered five defeats in seven league games, which is very far from what they managed in the previous campaign before finishing fourth.

Kitara head coach Wasswa Bbosa is confident that after working on a few things, the team will return to winning ways.

“We have no reason to panic. We are step by step handling the few challenges on the pitch and sure the team can sort this out,” he said.

“We have not played anywhere close to what we are capable of playing. We are working hard to address some of the grey areas in our training,” he added.

“Our job is to ensure that the players keep their belief and this is the most important thing. We have got over twenty games left to play and got work together and stick to the plan.”

Wasswa Bbosa replaced Brian Ssenyondo as the club seeks to put an end to the poor and devastating run.

Kitara’ first game under Bbosa ended 2-0 in favour of URA, causing more pain and debate to the Royals.

Kitara has a chance to bounce back into winning ways as they visit Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreation Ground in Wakiso on Friday, November 8.
