Vipers SC has confirmed that they will take on Kenya’s Police Football Club in an International Friendly on the Vipers Day.
The Venoms have invited Kenya Cup Police FC FC for an international friendly set for St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
To take the Cup, Police FC edged KCB 8-7 in the post-match penalty shootout after the game ended in a barren stalemate.
The Cup awarded Police FC a ticket to represent Kenya in the CAF Confederation Cup that will be played later in the year.
In the league, Police FC finished third collecting 57 points in 34 games behind Champions Gor Mahia and runners-up Tusker FC.
Police FC are set to give Vipers a test on the Vipers Day as they have fete with their fans and football fraternity at large.
According to Vipers SC, the game is set to forge a partnership thus strengthening the relationship between the two clubs.
The game between the two sides will be the main game of the day and it will be played under floodlights. But before, there will be an earlier clash as Vipers Legends take on Vipers Fans Select Team.
Tunisian side Club Africain has finally confirmed the signing of Uganda Cranes defender Kenneth Semakula.
Semakula joins the Tunisian side days after confirming his departure from the reigning Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa.
The former SC Villa defender has put pen to paper on a two-year employment contract that will keep the player at the club until 2026.
The deal was put to the public on Saturday, July 20, via the club’s official social media platforms.
“Welcome Kenneth Semakula,” the statement partly reads.
Semakula was influential in the journey as SC Villa ended a 20-year wait to lift the Uganda Premier League title.
Semakula joins Club Africain, one of the oldest clubs that has existed for 103 years. They have won 13 league titles and as many Tunisian FA Cups.
In the previous campaign, Club Africain finished 6th on a 14-team log in the Tunisian local Premier League.
The 2024 FUFA Super Eight tournament fixtures have been released and holders BUL are set to lock horns with Maroons FC.
The match avails BUL a chance to kick start its title defence against the Prison Wardens at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday, August 2.
In the previous edition, the oil manufacturers clinched the title after a heated shootout thus edging URA FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
This year, the FUFA Super Eight will have SC Villa, BUL, Vipers SC, Kitara FC, KCCA FC, Maroons FC, NEC FC and the Uganda Cranes Select Team.
The Venues set to be used will be St Mary’s Stadium – Kitende, MTN Omondi Stadium – Lugogo and Mandela National Stadium – Namboole.

Still, on August 2, Vipers will take on NEC at Kitende in the other quarterfinal clash.
A day later, Saturday August 3, Kitara FC will play against KCCA FC while the Uganda Cranes Select Team will take on UPL Champions SC Villa at Namboole.
These two teams will face off in a two legged format before heading into the semifinals. In the same berth, the losing sides will face off in placement games.
Uganda Premier League BUL has completed the signing of left-back Thomas Ochungo in the ongoing transfer window.
The Eastern Giants confirmed the signing of the roving left-back today, Friday, July 19, via the club’s official website.
“Thomas Ochungo has today become an Eastern Giant with the left back signing a two-year employment contract,” the statement partly reads.
Ochungo joins the oil manufacturers, switching from neighbours Gaddafi, a side that brought onto the scene.
The roving left-back started his football journey at Jinja Municipal Hippos in the FUFA Juniors League before he gained promotion to the senior side in 2017.
He later moved to Gaddafi in 2020, and he was part of the journey as they attained the top-tier status.
In 2022, Ochungo joined Busoga United before returning to Gaddafi in 2023, where he spent the recent campaign.
The rumours about Muhammad Shaban finally come to an end as he confirms his departure from Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC.
Shaban confirmed his departure in an emotional letter that addressed the club management, fans, and the football fraternity.
“It’s with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from this incredible club after two unforgettable seasons,” he wrote down.
“The memories made, victories celebrated, and bonds formed will forever hold a special place in my heart. I am grateful for the unwavering support, passion, and dedication shown by every one of you,” he added.
“As I embark on a new chapter in my career, I want to express my sincerest gratitude to the fans who have stood by me through thick and thin. Your cheers, chants, and unwavering support have motivated me to give my all on the field.”
“Although my time at the club may be coming to an end, I promise to keep you informed of my next move. Your continued support means the world to me, and I look forward to sharing the next step of this journey with you,” he concluded.
Shaban was the top scorer of the recent campaign with 17 goals, thus guiding KCCA to the fifth position on the log.
Shaban has previously played for Onduparaka, KCCA FC, Raja Casablanca and Vipers. Currently, he is on the radar for several clubs, including Young Africans and Gor Mahia.
Following a clarifification from FUFA that this year’s Super Eight edition will have the Uganda Cranes select team together with the top seven teams on the log of the just concluded Uganda Premier League campaign.
The Uganda Cranes Select squad has been announced today Thursday, July 18 ahead of the tournament that will get underway on Friday, August 2, 2027.
The squad is made up of 29 players and will be in the guidance of Uganda Cranes assistant coach Sam Ssimbwa.
The squad is made up of locally based players and a few free agents that are out of the seven participating clubs. The squad is also booasted by a number of foreign based players who will be competiting for a starting berth.
According to the FUFA Communications Director Ahmed Hussein, the team creates an enviroment for the players to impress ahead the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.
“The players in the select squad will be assesed as well by the Uganda Cranes technical team with an eye on impressing to break into the senior team for the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers that start in September,” Ahmed said.
“The players already in the set up of Uganda Cranes will use the chance to cement their positions by keeping high levels of physical and mental fitness ahead of the campaign while the other clubs will use the tournament to fine tune their squads for the new season,” he added.
The tournament will be played at three grounds including Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, St Mary’s Kitende and MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Uganda Premier League side BUL FC has completed the signing of Najib Fesali in the ongoing transfer window.
Fesali joins the oil manufacturers on a two-year employment contract as a free agent after running down his contract at URA Football Club.
The development was confirmed via the club’s official website on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
“Najib Fesali is a BUL FC player after completing a move from URA FC and signing a two-year contract with the Eastern Giants,” the statement partly reads.
Shortly after signing on the dotted line, Fesali revealed that he was glad to reunite with a coach that he worked with before.
“I know the coach [Abbey Kikomeko] here, and he knows me very well, and I know he believes in me. I also know the players at BUL, and I think that will make things easier for me here,” he said.
“BUL loves winning, and I equally do. I have a winning mentality, and I can work under pressure because I have been working for teams that always want to win trophies,” he added.
Fesali has previously played for URA FC and Gaddafi FC since leaving Jinja Secondary School, where he kicked off his playing career.
CAF has finally confirmed the official fixture of Uganda Cranes ahead of the Africa Cup Qualifiers that will be happening later in the year.
Following the draw of the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Ugandans have been waiting to know exactly when their national team will be in action.
According to the released fixture, Uganda Cranes will start the qualifiers at home and still conclude the journey with an away game.
Uganda Cranes will be on a hunt for a slot in the finals after missing out on the previous two editions at the continental stage.

SC Villa finally learnt of their 2024 CECAFA Kagame Cup as the group stage business came to an end.
The Uganda Premier League reigning champions’ hopes were shut down after Zambia’s Red Arrows FC secured a 1-0 victory against Djibouti Telecom.
The slim victory took Red Arrows to six games in three matches, putting a foot ahead of SC Villa, who secured five points.
Looking at the tournament format, the top team of each of the three groups advances to the semifinals, while the second-best team across all groups takes the fourth slot.
However, SC Villa’s assistant coach, Molly Byekwaso believes the team has picked positives even though they have failed to continue their stay in the regional cup.
“The most important thing is that we have had a good experience in terms of preparing for the CAF Champions League,” Byekwaso said.
“This tournament has painted quite a clear picture for us about the players regarding their strengths and weaknesses so let us see how we improve as preparations continue.”
The ongoing tournament continues with Hay Al Wadi (Sudan), Al Hilal (Sudan), APR FC (Rwanda), and Red Arrows (Zambia) still in contention to lift the title.
Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC president Dr Lawrence Mulindwa announced the inuaguration of the club’s day aired out as ‘Vipers Day’.
The six-time league champions has for long grown in stature by competiting both on the local and continental level and the development of Vipers Day is the latest step towards consistent growth.
The development was made public in a press conference held today Tuesday, July 16 at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
“I am here to announce the innuaguration of Vipers Day which will be marked annually,” Mulindwa confirmed.
“On this day, we are transforming from Vipers fans day that has been marked in the past five years into the Vipers Day that will include all stakeholders and not just the fans,” he added.
“Our partners, sponsors, bankers and well wishers are all invited for a special day that will include feasting, entertainment and of course football as we look at the bigger picture of transforming the game of football in this country.”
According to the club, the fans will have a chance to register officially as fans of the Kitende based side before witnessing two great games of football.
The club will also use the opportunity to unveil their technical staff together with the whole squad.
