Uganda Premier League side Express has confirmed that they are set to leave Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, for Nakivubo Stadium.
This was confirmed through a press statement shared via the club’s official social media platforms.
This will put an end to a remarkable era of 33 years in which the Red Eagles have used Wankulukuku as their home.
According to the club, the development is in line with achieving more and more success as planned by the club’s management.
“As we look forward to the future, we have made the difficult decision to move to Nakivubo Stadium for the 2024-2025 season. This decision has not been made lightly and is part of our broader strategy to grow and reach new heights,” the statement partly reads.
“Wankulukuku has not only been home but also a sanctuary for our fans, a place where countless moments of joy, triumph, and even heartache have bound us all together. We are grateful for the opportunity to call Wankulukuku home for three decades.”
Express recently lost to SC Villa 1-0 in a friendly encounter at the grand opening of the newly built stadium.
Uganda Premier League side KCCA Football Club has confirmed the signing of defender Hassan Muhamud in the ongoing transfer.
Muhamud’s switch to KCCA reunites him with gaffer Abdullah Mubiru, with whom they worked both at Police FC and Mbeya City FC.
The development was confirmed via the club’s official website on Sunday, July 15, 2024.
“Hassan Muhamud has joined FC on a two-year deal until the end of the 2025-26 season,” the statement partly reads.
Muhamud revealed to KCCA media his delight in joining the Lugogo-based side
“I am delighted to join KCCA FC,” Muhamud said before adding; “Every player desires to play for a club like KCCA FC.”

In a high-stakes match at the Ntara Primary School playground, defending champions Mwenge South were held by Kitagwenda to a 1-1 draw but secured their place in the semifinals of the MTN Tooro Masaza Cup.
Kitagwenda, who needed a decisive win to stay in the tournament, started strong. From the outset, they looked the more likely to score, applying relentless pressure on Mwenge South’s defence. Despite their efforts, the first half ended goalless.
The second half saw a shift in momentum with Mwenge South, needing only a draw to advance, dominating possession but struggling to break through Kitagwenda’s defence. However, in the 67th minute, Shariff Ahuura found the back of the net, giving Mwenge South a crucial lead.
Kitagwenda, fighting for survival in the tournament, responded ten minutes later. A long cross from defender Fred Kusiima was converted by Confort Atuhaire, leveling the score and reigniting their hopes. Despite a valiant effort, Kitagwenda couldn’t find the winning goal they desperately needed.
The draw means Mwenge South advances to the semifinals where they will face the winner between Ntoroko County and Kyaka.
Kitagwenda, on the other hand, is eliminated from the tournament. This draw marked Kitagwenda’s first point in this year’s tournament, a disappointing outcome for a team with high expectations.
“Our defense was not well organized and it cost us the 3 points which we needed to progress to the next level. We are out of this year’s tournament. Let’s go and reorganize and plan for the next year. We appreciate MTN and Tooro Kingdom for the partnership and all our fans who have supported us up to this level,” Kitagwenda official Michael Karwani said.,
In a previous match, Kitagwenda suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Burahya at the Kyembogo Datic Playground, which meant they needed a 3-0 victory in their final group stage game to have any chance of advancing. This defeat, combined with the draw against Mwenge South, sealed their fate in this year’s tournament.
As the Tooro Kingdom MTN Masaza Cup 2024 progresses, Mwenge South’s journey continues as they aim to defend their title, while Kitagwenda looks to regroup and come back stronger next year.
SC Villa secured a well-deserved 3-1 victory against Singida Black Stars in the CECAFA Kagame Cup on Friday evening.
Najib Yiga, Reagan Mpande, and Patrick Jonah Kakande were on target for the Ugandan side as they claimed maximum points.
As the game looked like it would end barren at halftime, Yiga produced a moment of brilliance firing Jogoos ahead with a beautiful curling effort.
Kakande doubled Villa’s lead from the spot a couple of minutes into the second stanza. The penalty was awarded after a foul on Mpande in the area.
Mpande put the icing on the cake in the 56th minute as he guided home David Owori’s delivery from the right flank.
The home side pulled one back through Togolese Marouf Tchakei, but the maximum points and bragging rights all belonged to Villa.
In the other Group C game, APR edged El Merriekh in a 1-0 victory to take the summit with six points.
Villa will face APR in the last group game, which is a must-win for the Uganda Premier League champions.
