Lugazi FC and Kyetume FC played to a one-all draw in the Uganda Big League clash at Lugazi Stadium on Monday evening.
It was a physical encounter and the 1-1 scoreline explains perfectly how close it was without either side taking full control of the game.
Experienced defender Savio Kabugo returned to the starting eleven after missing the clash where the Leaders played Kiyinda Boys in Mityana.
An own goal by Lugazi gave Kyetume the lead in the 20th minute thanks to the visitors’ forward line that hardly gave room to the hosts to rest.
Five minutes later, Ronald Ssempala set up Sam Ssemugugu through a cut back but the latter’s final effort hit the side net.
Sempala restored parity in the 55th minute after calmly converting from the 12-yard mark.
The hosts kept committing bodies upfront in search of the second but Kyrletume hardly gave them room to do so.
And at full-time the two sides shared points in a close contest.
A point takes Lugazi to 15 points in the third position on the log while Kyetume has a point less in the fourth position.
The Uganda Premier League secretariat has rescheduled the fixture that will witness Mbarara host SC Villa at Kakyeka Stadium.
The development was made public on Monday, November 20 via the UPL social handles.
After the change, the game that was meant to be played on Thursday, November 23 will be shifted to Saturday.
The change in fixture happened because SC Villa are currently not with three of their players.
Gavin Kizito, Kenneth Semakula, and Umar Lutalo are all with the Uganda Cranes squad that is playing in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in Morocco.
Villa is ninth on the log with eight points after playing six games.

The Uganda Senior Nation Team (Uganda Cranes) is set to lock horns with Somalia in the second game of the ongoing FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
The two sides will face off at Berkane Municipal Stadium in Morocco on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
On Matchday One of the qualifiers, both sides lost their respective games. Uganda fell to Guinea in a 2-1 loss while Somalia lost 3-1 to Algeria. So both will take this fixture seriously as they seek to get off the mark.
In a pre-match conference ahead of the game, Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Joseph Put revealed that his troops have the right mentality ahead of the game against Somalia.
“The boys are committed and motivated to put up a good game. In this competition there are no easy games because each comes with challenges but we are ready to give it the best,” he noted.
“I am happy with the boys’ mentality. Ahead of Somalia we we have to give out our best game. So we need to get motivated and bring energy so that we battle them out to seal a victory,” he added.
But once again Put asked Ugandans to be patient and support the team because the change and improvement will take some time.
“We need to be patient. It’s been three to four days with the boys, I don’t know them a lot and I feel like there is a lot to accomplish but there is no time. However, we shall keep analyzing the game and the players so we are on the right track.”
Head to head
Uganda Cranes forward Fahad Bayo is confident that the team will look miles better while playing Somalia on Tuesday, November 21.
This will be Uganda’s second game in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers’ campaign.
Bayo was on the scoresheet after tapping home from close range to restore parity for his side before Guinea dramatically grabbed a late win.
In a press conference prior to tomorrow’s clash, Fahad noted that they hardly get it enough and as a team they will seek to put that right.
“It was not enough (while playing Guinea). I do believe we could play much better against them,” he noted.
“We went into the game prepared and motivated but unfortunately the game hardly went our way,” he sadly added.
The former Vipers forward believes the days after have availed time for the coaches to analyse and rectify on the mistakes done earlier.
“We have put a number of things right and I am sure we shall look better while playing against Somalia tomorrow.
“I am a striker and my role is to score. So if I am given a chance to play then I will do all it takes to help my country win the game,” he concluded.
Uganda are in Group G alongside Algeria, Guinea, Mozambique, Botswana and Somalia.
Among these only Algeria, Guinea and Mozambique managed to pick a victory on day one of the qualification campaign.
