George Kasonko gave the visitors a lead in the 35th minute after a lapse in SC Villa’s backline. Ronald Otti nodded Jeromy Kirya’s corner into play and Kasonko was quick to guide it into the back of the net.

Two minutes later Otti doubled the lead. The lanky backline jumped highest to node home, Edward Masembe could have done better to deny the goal but his clearance was mistimed.

At the start of the second stanza, Charles Lwanga and Ronald Sekiganda replaced Ivan Bogere and Diego Semugera.

Goalkeeper Norman Angufidru denied Kasonko’s low shot in the 48th minute to keep the game in reach.

Gaddafi FC and Busoga United will face off in the Uganda Premier League on Tuesday evening at Gaddafi Arena in Jinja.

After three straight defeats, the Soldier Boys finally got off to a winning start with a 1-0 triumph over Arua Hill SC.

Baker Buyala came up big with a goal as Gaddafi stretched Arua Hills’ winless streak to four games.

David Mutono will be hoping that the victory will galvanize his men so that they can get their campaign back on track.

Busoga United has likewise had a slow start to the season. They have struggled to impress after their opening-day success, earning only a point against Mbarara City.

The Jinja Derby, on the other hand, provides a fresh start for the two teams to correct their mistakes and claim all maximum points.

Mutono, Gaddafi’s head coach, stated in the pre-match press conference that his team was motivated by an away win.

“We are motivated having gotten our first victory of the league,” Mutono said before adding; “We have not yet ironed out our mistakes fully and am sure we shall get better as a team in the next games.”

“As we host our neighbours Busoga (United) it will be a great moment for us to win the game so as to give our fans a reason to be happy.”

“I call upon all the fans to turn up and support the boys as we look for the second win of the campaign at large.”

Head to Head

In the last four meetings, Gaddafi FC has won twice, Busoga United has won once and the other clash has been a goalless draw.

Police FC registered a 2-0 victory against Karo Karungi in the FUFA Big League on Monday at Kavumba Recreation Centre, Wakiso.

The result hardly depicted what happened in the game since it was a very close encounter but the Cops walked away with it.

Isaac Ogwang and Herman Wasswa were on target as the Cops registered the fourth victory of the campaign.

Police had a great start to the game as Gadaffi Kacancu pulled the string in the middle park to dictate the pace of the play.

The quick on-set paid off as the hosts got the lead early in the eighth minute, Ogwang was set up by Samuel Kayongo before he looped the ball past Karo Karungi’s goalkeeper Yunus Dafala.

Karo Karungi came close to levelling matters in the 30th minute but Police’s custodian Edward Kasibante made a stunning save to deny Fredrick Muyindi.

With three minutes to end the first stanza, Oscar Nyanga witnessed his deflected effort kiss off the frame before it later bounced off the goal line.

Five minutes into the second half, the Cops had a chance to double the lead but Ogwang’s effort from the close range went above the frame.

The visitors came close once again four minutes past the hour mark, Nyanga went past his marker remaining with a goalkeeper to beat but failed to guide the ball into the net.

Pacy forward Muhammed Nsereko gave Police’s backline a hard day but his final ball was far from required.

Wasswa replaced Ogwang in the 82nd minute to introduce new and fresh legs upfront.

Uganda Premier League | Tuesday Fixtures

The Uganda Premier League Matchday Five will kick start on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2023.

The biggest game of the day will see table leaders BUL FC visiting SC Villa at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

BUL FC will hope to keep their perfect run intact having won all four games played so far in the 2023/24 campaign.

The 3-0 victory against the Maroons will give the oil manufacturers a reason to believe that they have a decent side to take on anyone.

On the other hand, SC Villa have not had the best run thus far but it’s equally fair to note that they have not done a bad job yet.

After the 2-1 loss to Kitara in the league opener, the Jogoo have registered a victory against NEC and two draws from Maroons and Vipers SC.

The youthful side has kept improving every game and the clash against BUL will be the perfect test for the growing project.

In the pre-match presser, BUL striker Samuel Sekamatte revealed that they will do all it takes to keep their perfect run.

“The players are in good shape to deliver maximum points from the game because that is what we need,” Sekamatte said.

“We have to safeguard our perfect run because we have all it takes to win the game. Looking upon the game the last time we met Villa, we lost narrowly but that is in the past,” he added.

“We know that there is a lot at stake this season, given the good start of the season we believe that we can grow as a team and win big.”

Sekamatte rallied the fans and BUL well-wishers to turn up and support the boys as they continue to fight for the badge.

Head to Head

In the last five UPL games played by the two sides, BUL has got hold of the lion’s share registering three victories, SC Villa has one once while the other ended in a one-all draw.

The last time the two sides met in the UPL, David Owori’s lonely strike was the difference in giving Villa all the deserving bragging rights.

His absence gives a chance to Ssali and Isaac Waigona to get Express’ goals and give the Red Eagles hope going forward.
