Record champions Kawempe Muslim obliterated Moroto High School in a 12-0 victory to pick a spot in the knockout stage.

This was the fifth victory of Kawempe Muslim who had already beaten Panyadoli Secondary School, Buhobe Secondary School and Sheema Girls School.

However, they concluded the group-stage business with a scoring party against debutante Moroto High.

Krusoom Namutebi pulled down the curtains to open the party in the 13th minute before Hadijah Nandago doubled the lead a minute later.

In the 25th minute, Shadia Nabirye found the back of the net and two minutes later Nandago completed a brace to get the rhythm going and moving steadily.

Seven minutes to half time, Nandago completed a hat trick to show the world how clinical she can be in front of goal.

Right after recess, the FUFA Super Women Super League, most valuable player (MVP) and top scorer, Shakira Nyinagahirwa also placed her name on the scoring sheet.

Nabukenya, Nyinagahirwa, Nandago and Nabirye later scored each to complete a dozen of goals.

The maximum points take Kawempe to the top of Group H with 15 points and 12 goals.

Kawempe lost to St Noa Girls 1-0 in the finals of last year. The Valley Warriors seek to reclaim their title.

Kitara FC and Mbarara City FC confirmed their places in next season’s Uganda Premier League (UPL) with a game to spare in the FUFA Big League League.

In a game played at Paridi Stadium, Kitara FC registered a 3-0 well-deserved victory against Adjumani Town Council on Thursday evening.

Fifteen minutes into the game, Moses Sseruyide sent in a dangerous cross looking for George Ssenkaba who made a timely run but Adjumani’s backline was quick to clear away the ball.

Two minutes passed half an hour-mark Paul Mucureezi curled home yet another freekick to give the visitors a lead. The powerful effort hit the post before it found the back of the net.

Mucureezi nearly made it two when he attempted from long range to score after the custodian had left his line but the ball narrowly missed the target hitting the side net.

The Royals went into the break with a narrow lead having missed several chances however much they kept knocking on the door unceasingly.

A minute into the second stanza, the goal scorer turned provider as Mucureezi set up George Senkaaba who smartly converted from close range.

In the 66th minute, Paddy extended the lead to three, nodding home Sseruyide’s well-taken corner.

The victory took Kitara to 58 points from 28 games while Adjumani is 15th on the log with 26 points.

Elsewhere, Mbarara picked a 2-0 victory against Kaaro Karungi to seal a promotion to the top tier. Henry Kitegenyi and Jude Ssemugabi were on target as the Ankole Lions picked the precious three points.

Mbarara City is second on the log with 57 points after posting their 15th victory in the ongoing campaign.

Reigning FUFA Women Super League Champions Kampala Queens have announced the acquisition of forward Fazila Ikwaput.

According to the Queens of Soccer, Fazila will be part and present in the palace for the next two years.

The former Lady Doves expressed her excitement hoping she and her teammates can achieve the set target.

“I am excited to join Kampala Queens,” Fazila opened up before adding; “I hope together with my teammates can deliver the desired target of playing at the CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament.”

Fazila was glad to join a side that has many national team players, noting that the chemistry will surely take shape as soon as possible.

“This is more of family because majority of the players are on national team and I have played with them before,” she concluded.

Ikwaput is the first signing for the local champions who are preparing for the CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers.

This will be the second time Fazila takes part in the regional Champions League qualifiers, the first time the forward was a member of Lady Doves and they finished third.

Fazila has previously played Olila High School, Lady Doves, Kerela Blasters (India), BIIK Kazygurt (Kazakhstan) and Omonia Nicosia (Cyprus).

BUL Football Club’s winless run in the Uganda Premier League extended to 11 games.

Someone Masaba’s charges shared spoils with Arua Hill SC in a goalless draw at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Wednesday evening.

The two sides fired blanks in a clash that witnessed limited chances but rather possession was mainly contested in the middle of the park.

In the last 11 games, BUL has posted seven draws and four losses marking that they are only a shadow of the team they were in the first round of the campaign.

After picking a point, BUL are eighth with 34 points after 25 games while Arua Hill SC are fourth with 38 points.

BUL will take their search for the first win of the second round on May 16 as they take KCCA FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

On the other hand, Arua Hill SC will host Busoga at Barifa Stadium.

St Henry’s College Kitovu (SHACK) picked their second victory in the ongoing Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Games on Wednesday.

SHACK picked a well-deserved 3-0 win against Jinja Comprehensive Secondary School at the Canon Apollo PTC playground.

It was the second victory after thrashing Bishop Comboni College 5-0 on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Teso Progressive Academy posted a 3-0 victory against Latifa Mixed Secondary School at Minor Seminary playground while Tororo Town College bounced from a loss to beat Nakaseke International School 2-1.

Nakaseke’s trouble was compounded after falling to a second loss.

“We take a game at a time. I am happy for the victory once again,” Ronald Komakech, SHACK assistant coach said.

“We have a dream. I am optimistic we shall do all it takes to ensure that we take home the prize,” he added.

SHACK are on top of the log with six points and eight goals in two games.

In the next game, SHACK will face Latifa Mixed Secondary School at Kicwamba (II) playground tomorrow at 3:00 pm.

USSSA Games 2023 – Boys Football

St Mary’s Kitende continued with a perfect run in the ongoing Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) boy’s football in Fort Portal.

The reigning champions registered a 3-0 victory against Bishop Comboni College Kambuga to make it two wins in two games on Wednesday morning.

In the game played at Kitarasa playground, Abdul Nsereko registered a brace before Olimi Nyarwa added to make it three and ensure they keep on the positive run.

Kitende found a hard time breaking down Bishop Comboni’s defence line that was so committed to picking a point in the tough duel.

Nsereko opened the scoring late with a header past custodian Alisema Kakuru to break the deadlock.

Olimi later converted from the spot to extend the lead and Nsereko hit the last nail in Bishop Comboni’s coffin to ensure the assignment is executed.

“We worked hard to break down the opponents,” Joackim Mukungu, assistant head coach of Kitende said.

“I credit the players for the job well done as we plan for the remaining games in the group,” he added.

With six points from two games, Kitende is second on the log behind St Henry’s Kitovu who have a goal more than the latter.

Emmanuel Loki’s goal was the difference as Bright Stars registered a 1-0 victory against Vipers SC in the Uganda Premier League at Kavumba Recreational Grounds on Tuesday.

The Venoms will feel undone since they came in the fixture knowing they only needed a draw to go top of the log in the tight scuffle of the championship change.

The hosts nearly took the lead through Noordin Bunjo but Vipers custodian Fabien Mutombora was quick to pull off a reflex save.

On the other hand, Milton Karisa pulled off a stunning long effort trying to catch Hassan Matovu off guard but the custodian palmed it away in style.

Vipers went on to lose their midfielder Miguel Nzau Lutumba due to an injury and was replaced by Karim Watambala.

Early after recess, Watambala was in the right place to get onto a rebound but his powerful header was evenly dealt with by goalkeeper Matovu.

In the 57th minute, the visitors nearly took the lead through Nigerian forward Abubaker Lawal whose effort kissed the frame before it sailed out for a goal kick.

Two minutes passed the hour mark, Emmanuel Loki slide the ball past the Vipers’ defenders who slept on the job only to be punished.

Asaph Mwebaze’s charges picked a big three points that keeps the title chase open and up for grabs for the three clubs; SC Villa, Vipers and KCCA.

The loss keeps Vipers in the second position with 45 points while the victory takes the Stars to the ninth with 32 points.

Next on the menu, Vipers will visit Onduparaka at the Green Light Stadium in Arua on Friday, May 9 while Bright Stars will make a short trip to play Wakiso Giants on Tuesday, May 16.

Group A results

St Mary’s Kitende (SMASK) staged a perfect start to their title defence against Tororo Town College in the 2023 USSSA Games at Kichwamba Grounds, Fort Portal today morning.

The defending champions registered a 4-0 victory in a game that was concluded in the first half right away.

In the seventh minute, Ronald Madoi broke the deadlock after raising high to node home off Justine Opiro’s curling free kick.

Two minutes later, Abdul Nsereko extended the lead with a header from close range after being set up by Olimi Nyarwa

Hakim Mutebi joined the scoring sheet in the 16th minute after shooting home Opiro’s low sweet pass in the area.

This came after Tororo Town College defenders failed to deal with Nsereko’s pace on the right flank before he dashed in a pass to meet Kitende’s captain Opiro.

At half an hour mark, Olimi placed the ball past the far post with a low powerful effort to make it four with five minutes left to play in the first stanza.

Tororo’s backline was more solid in the second half and denied Kitende from extending their tally.

Daniel Male made a number of changes to bring on fresh legs but still the damage could not get worse.

St Mary’s Kitende will return in action tomorrow as they take on Bishop Comboni College Kambuga while Tororo will face Nakaseke International.

The defending champions are in Group A alongside Nakaseke International School, St Henry’s College Kitovu, Jinja Comprehensive, Bishop Comboni and Tororo Town College.

Defending champions St Noa Secondary School staged a perfect start with a 5-0 victory against Masaka SS at Ntare School grounds on Monday morning.

The champions of the 2022 Secondary School Ball Games started the hurt of a back-to-back championship with a statement win.

Sylvia Kabene (brace), Imelda Kasemire, Maureen Kitimbo and Yudaya Najjemba were on the scoresheet to give St Noa the right rhythm.

Isma Mukiibi’s charges were slapped to a loss but have a chance to get back on the right path against Moyo Star Secondary.

St Noa are in Group A alongside Highway Sironko, Kiyinyi Memorial School, Bon Consili, Nyabuhare SS, Taggy High School and Masaka SS

Elsewhere, Taggy High School shared spoils with Boni Consili Girls Vocational School in a 1-1 draw.

 

Uganda National DanceSport team is off for their maiden Africa-breaking championship.

The tournament will get underway from May 12th to 13th in Rabat City of Morocco.

The tournament is named WDSF African Breaking Championship which doubles as an Olympic qualifier for the fourth coming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Uganda DanceSport Federation has prepared a team of six athletes to represent the country. All these are B-Boys.

The six athletes are Ronald Ndawula (Bboy Ndawula), Samuel Ziraye (Bboy Saman), Steven Opio (Bboy Pencil), Fahadhi Kiryowa (Bboy Fahadhi), Faruk Luleti (Bboy Skoolboy Faruk) and Frank Kimuli (Bboy Jogo).

Uganda will be glad to have one of their own Mark Kaweesi who will be one of the nine WDSF International Breaking Judges selected to adjudicate at the upcoming championship.

The delegation will be led by the federation’s Chief Executive Officer.
