The kick-off dates of the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League have been confirmed through an official document released by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

The latest development from the federation confirmed the highly anticipated campaign will get underway on Friday, September 13, 2024.

However, before the league kicks off, the fans will have a chance to see some of their teams in the FUFA Super Eight tournament as well as the FUFA Super Cup.

The Super Eight tournament is planned to get underway on Monday, August 5 to Sunday, August 25, 2024.

This tournament has been put in place to help ignite the teams and also tune the party mood of the fans ahead of the upcoming tournament.

Then the Super Cup will have the Uganda Premier League champions (SC Villa) and Uganda Cup champions (Kitara FC) lock horns on Friday, August 30.

In the same document, FUFA confirmed that the transfer window is officially opening on Monday, July 1 before it closes on Saturday, September 21.

Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC is in direct talks with talented defender Hassan Muhamood in the ongoing transfer window.

The Lugogo-based side has made it clear that they have a strong intention to strengthen their defence with a ball-playing defender.

KCCA came close to agreeing on terms with defender Hudu Mulikyi but the deal failed to materialise in the last minute.

Reports indicate that the two parties are in advanced talks ahead of a possible transfer.

Muhamood ran down his contract with Tanzania’s Geita Gold FC, a side he joined from Mbeya City.

While at Mbeya City, Muhamood worked with coach Abdallah Mubiru after sharing a dressing room at Police FC.

Muhamood has also played for Express, SC Villa and Onduparaka in the Uganda Premier League.

Uganda Premier League side URA Football Club has announced the departure of forward Viane Ssekajugo following the expiration of his contract.

Ssekajugo has been with the Tax Collectors for the last three years.

“After three incredible years with URA FC, we bid farewell to forward Vianne sSekajugo. Your dedication and talent have been invaluable to the team. Best of luck in your future endeavours, Via!,” the club posted on their official X (Twitter) account.

Ssekajugo joined URA FC in August 2021 as a free agent from Wakiso Giants, signing a three-year deal.

During his tenure with the club, he contributed significantly, although his last season saw him scoring just two goals in 14 league matches.

Ssekajugo who has in the past played for west Nile side Onduparaka is strongly linked with a transfer to NEC Football Club.

Uganda Premier League side Vipers have acquired the signature of talented youngster Kenneth Kimera as the third signing of the ongoing transfer window.

The development was announced on the club’s official website on Saturday morning.

“Vastly talented striker Kenneth Kimera has signed and subsequently been unveiled by Uganda Premier League champion Vipers Sports Club,” the statement partly reads.

Kimera has put pen on a two-year employment contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

The youngster joins the Kitende-based side from Wakiso Giants where he netted several goals as a youngster rooting from the Buganda Masaza Cup.

Kimera becomes the third signing joining left-back Derrick Ndahiro and forward Pedro Honjo Chimbiambiulo alias Sukuya.

The forward will vie for a position with Yunus Sentamu, Fumador Asiwome, Fazil Tumwine, Abdul Nsereko, and Eric Kenzo Kambale among other youngsters.

Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC has confirmed the signing of Pedro Honjo Chimbiambiulo also known as Sukuya.

The development of the acquisition of the Angolan forward was confirmed today, on Friday, June 21 via the club’s official website.

“In a bid to further strengthen the ranks, Vipers Sports Club have unveiled versatile Angolan winger Pedro Honjo Chimbiambiulo alias Sukuya,” the statement partly reads.

According to the club, Sukuya has put pen to a two-year employment contract that will keep him at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende until the end of 2025/26 season.

Sukuya becomes the second signing of the Kitende-based side following the announcement of left-back Derrick Ndahiro.

The duo come in days after Vipers SC confirmed their new Serbian head coach Nikola Kavazovic in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Sukuya brings to Vipers vast experience from the Angolan top flight. He is a versatile player who can play both as an offensive midfielder but also operate on either flank.

Formerly at Wiliete Sport Clube de Benguela SAD, he has also played for Talentos De Benguele, ANZ Desporto Angolano, Domant FC, and Petro de Luanda.

Sukuya is expected to compete for a starting berth with other attacking talents in Yunus Sentamu, Milton Karisa, and Allan Okello among others.

Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC has announced the signing of left Derrick Ndahiro.

The announcement was made through the club’s official website on Wednesday, June 20, 2024.

“Six-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers Sports Club have completed the acquisition of massively rated and talented left-back Derrick Ndahiro,” the statement partly reads.

According to the club, Ndahiro has put pen to a two-year employment contract to keep him at the club until 2026.

Ndahiro joins Vipers, switching from the Rwanda Premier League outfit Police FC, where he spent the just concluded campaign.

Before joining Police FC, the 24-year-old left has previously played for SC Villa and URA FC in the Uganda Premier League.

Ndahiro becomes the club’s first signing hours after the confirmation of their new head coach, Nikola Kavazovic.

Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC has confirmed Nikola Kavazović as their new head coach.

Nikola Kavazović has put pen to a two-year employment contract to see him at the St Mary’s Stadium Kitende until June 2026.

The development was confirmed during the unveiling ceremony held at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende today Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

During the unveiling presser, Vipers president Dr Lawrence Mulindwa revealed that acquiring the Serbian gaffer is a huge milestone ahead of the dream of ensuring that Vipers become a professional club.

“Recruitment is a process that takes time and you have to do it very well. We feel this time round we got the right coach,” Mulindwa stated.

“We needed a professional coach. We needed a team player because Vipers is a family and we are doing everything to ensure that we keep the club on a professional path,” he added.

“We are trying to address most aspects that define a professional team. We believe in modernisation and that is why we want to put in place all that entails that, including the right technical team.”

In the same breath, Kavazović revealed that he has come to work and will do all that it takes to achieve with Vipers.

“I am grateful for this opportunity and I want to deliver success. I am a student of Portuguese football and I hold their philosophy,” he said.

“Let me send a message to my players, they may be stars but for me, I have no stars. As a team we have to work it my way so things are going to change,” he added.

Vipers were trophyless last season. The arrival of Nikola Kavazović begins a new era as the club seeks to return to the winning mentality and attain more glory going forward.

Uganda Premier League side Kitara has entered a partnership with FUFA Women Super League side Lady Doves.

The development is a mark meant to fulfil the CAF requirement that a team taking part in any continental tournament ought to have a women’s football team.

Kitara beat NEC 1-0 in the Uganda Cup final, and the victory meant that the Royals sealed a slot in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“We are glad to announce our partnership with Kitara FC as their official Women’s Team for the coming season,” Lady Doves confirmed in a statement.

In the same breath, Kitara stated; “Lady Doves will become Kitara FC’s official women’s team in all its FUFA, CAF and FIFA engagements beginning next campaign.”

The partnership was confirmed in a ceremony that was held at the Golden Castle Hotel in Hoima City.

The document was signed by Kitara FC President Deo Kasozi and Mr Nsingwire Godfrey, the team manager of Lady Doves FC. The Royals’ CEO, Joshua Atugonza, was also present.

The partnership is meant to as well improve football in the region by creating a force that can challenge titles both in the men’s and women’s leagues.

Uganda Premier League side Mbarara City Football Club has unveiled gaffer Charles Livingstone Mbabazi as head coach.

Mbabazi has put pen on a two-year employment contract that will keep him at the club until the 2025/26 campaign.

The club has confirmed the signing of the gaffer on the social media handles on Monday, June 17, 2024.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Charles Livingstone Mbabazi as our new Head Coach on a 2 year contract.” The club confirmed.

This will be the third time Mbabazi will be steering the Ankole Lions after the 2018-19 and 2021 stints.

He joins the club as the direct replacement of Wasswa Bbosa, whose one-year tenure came to an end at the climax of the 2023/24 season.

Mbabazi will have a difficult assignment to regain the Ankole Lions’ lost glory.

It hardly went well for the gaffer last season as he was relieved from his duty at Vipers SC before the end of the campaign.

Umar Lutalo has announced his departure from Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa.

Lutalo joined the Jogoos three years ago on return from Aspire Academy in Qatar.

Last season, he scored 8 league goals, only behind the club’s top scorer Jonah Patrick Kakande as SC Villa ended a 20-year wait for their 17th league title.

Lutalo, in a statement published on his social media accounts, thanked the club management led by Hajji Omar Mandela, coaches, staff, teammates and everyone associated with the Jogoos.

He becomes the third key player to part ways with SC Villa this off-season. The others are Abasi Kyeyune who was sold to Cleopatra Celemica of Egypt and title-winning skipper Kenneth Ssemakula.

The Jogoos will play at the CECAFA Kagame Cup next month and also represent Uganda at the Caf Champions League.
