Kitara was held by BUL in a goalless draw in the Uganda Premier League match that was played at Masindi Municipality Stadium on Friday evening.

The Royals failed to extend their gap at the summit as they were stopped by second-placed BUL.

Kitara’s custodian Chrispas Kusiima was forced into a save by Ronald Otti from close range in the 17th minute.

BUL’s custodian Joel Mutakubwa kept his side in the game after making a quick run to intercept Paddy Muhumuza’s through pass to Denis Omedi.

Omedi’s touch was too heavy as he tried to tee up Jude Ssemugabi and the hosts put to waste a cut-clear chance in the final minutes of the first stanza.

Eleven minutes into the second stanza, Omedi’s powerful effort went narrowly wide of the frame as the hosts kept knocking.

In the final minutes of the game, both sides made changes but the score remained intact.

Kitara is still on top of the log with 44 points while BUL is second after playing 22 games.

Elsewhere, Wakiso edged NEC in a 1-0 victory in the UPL game that was played at Kabaka Kyabaggu on Friday.

Kenneth Kimera’s goal in the 80th minute was the difference as the home side bagged maximum points.

NEC lies third on the log with 37 points while Wakiso Giants are 11th with 26 points in 22 games.

KCCA extended their impressive run with yet another convincing victory against Busoga United in the Uganda Premier League encounter played on Thursday.

In the game played under the lights at MTN Omondi Stadium, KCCA secured a 4-1 victory in the one-sided encounter.

Saidi Mayanja (brace), Arafat Usama and Filbert Obenchan scored for KCCA while Isaac Isinde pulled back one for the visitors.

KCCA’s skipper Obenchan nodded the hosts ahead as he guided Mayanja’s corner kick into the back of the net.

Mayanja doubled KCCA’s lead with a touch that completed a well-worked team goal though Etienne Katenga set up the agile midfielder.

At halftime, KCCA had a comfortable 2-0 lead and it looked like a game done on the day.

Mayanja completed a personal brace with a simple touch to convert Usama’s cutback five minutes into the second half.

Usama extended the hosts lead to four. The quick forward’s high press paid off as he forced Busoga’s backline into an error before he slotted the ball home.

Isinde later found Busoga United’s consolation after KCCA failed to clear their lines.

KCCA FC will host Busoga United in the Uganda Premier League at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Thursday, March 27, 2024.

Previously, KCCA secured a 1-0 victory against rivals Vipers and they will be looking forward to building from that going forward.

In a pre-match conference, KCCA head coach Abdallah Mubiru revealed that they will be looking forward to maintaining the momentum earlier gathered from the previous games.

“We are targeting to build momentum we had gathered. We are looking forward to getting positive results against a side I can call a bogey side to us,” he stated.

“They have always been stubborn to us but we are trying to manage and I hope we can handle it well. We can never be excited about the past but rather mind how we shall manage the game best,” he added.

KCCA has had four players attached to the two national teams that have been in action and the gaffer noted that it’s always challenging to pick a team in such a situation since you can hardly tell how fit and ready players are.

“It’s always a challenging moment to manage a team coming from an International Break because we have a number of players that have been away with the national sides. However, we are glad that none of them returned injured and so we shall be managing their fitness levels.”

“Good enough we have no player injured. So everyone is ready for selection and it’s upon us to come up with a good group that will help us gather maximum points,” he concluded.

KCCA will miss the services of Joel Serunjogi due to the accumulation of bookings, though the gaffer sounded so confident noting the team has many players and they will find a fitting replacement.

The hosts lie eighth on the log with 29 points while Busoga are 14th on the log with 17 games after playing 20 games.
