KCCA FC held BUL FC in a goalless draw in the Uganda Premier League duel played at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Friday.
In a game partly played under floodlights, both sides failed to find the back of the net after playing a physical and cagey game.
The visitors suffered a big blow after Martin Aprem was lifted off the field of play after suffering a shoulder injury in the 13th minute. Aprem was replaced by Amos Kirya.
Two minutes later the Kasasiro Boys gave away a glorious chance to take the lead through Shaban Muhammed. The forward jumped highest to connect with Jackson Ogwang’s delivery but the effort skied above the frame.
In the 24th minute, Shaban set up midfielder Emmanuel Wasswa but the resultant effort was far from the target.
Midway through the first stanza, Abdallah Mubiru made a quick change introducing Carlos Da Silva Gui replacing Ashraf Mugume.
In the 36th minute, BUL made another forced change introducing Ibrahim Mugulusi for injured Douglas Muganga.
With five minutes to end the first stanza, goalkeeper Tom Ikara made a full stretch to palm away Mustafa Kizza’s freekick.
In the 55th minute, Nicholas Mwere collided with Emmanuel Alex Wasswa and KCCA appealed for a penalty by the center referee waved away.
Mustafa once again came close through a freekick but the effort went an inch above the frame in the 75th minute.
At the end of the day, the two teams shared spoils in the goalless affair.
The point keeps BUL on top of the log with 34 points while KCCA is ninth with 20 points.
Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC has completed their mid-season transfer business bringing in four players and releasing three.
The Lugogo-based side has signed two players goalkeeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa and attacking midfielder Peter Lwasa.
In the same breath, KCCA recalled Emmanuel Wasswa from Express where he played half of the campaign on loan.
Wasswa has a good show while playing for the Red Eagles and he is expected to bring leadership, experience, and drive to KCCA’s middle park which has several young players.
The fourth player to make his way into KCCA’s senior team is youngster Joseph Ogwang. Ogwang has been handled on a four-and-a-half-year contract keeping him at Lugogo until June 2028.
However, the club has also witnessed the departure of three players. Moses Waiswa Ndhondhi, Vinicius Micheal, and Daniel Opolot Isiagi are the players who walked through the back door.
Uganda Premier League side KCCA confirms the signing of Peter Lwasa as the second signing of the mid-season transfer window.
Lwasa joins the Kasasiro Boys after putting pen on a short-term deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
While speaking to KCCA media, Lwasa made it clear that he wants to contribute to the current project and push the club to greater heights.
“I want to contribute to the current project and that is why I am here. I want to help the club achieve its objectives,” Lwasa revealed.
“I am happy for this opportunity to join KCCA FC. To be honest, when the club approached me I did not have to think twice about it,” he added.
“I believe together with the rest of the rest of the group we can achieve something great.”
Lwasa is an attacking midfielder who can also comfortably play on the right and left flanks thus introducing a fresh option for Abdallah Mubiru upfront.
He has previously played for URA FC, Sofapaka FC, Kariobangi, Gor Mahia, and Lubumbashi Sport.
KCCA will return to action on Friday, February 2 as they take on log leaders BUL FC at MTN Omondi Stadium.
KCCA secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory against Admin FC in the Uganda Cup encounter that was played at Mbale Municipal Stadium on Wednesday.
Shortly after the final whistle, KCCA head coach Abdallah Mubiru heaped lots of praise on his troops after claiming victory away from home.
“We are happy with the way the boys played. Every player tried to give his best and am happy with what the team looked like,” Mubiru told the press.
“As a team, we mind our progress and no one else. We shall do everything to achieve that because we know it’s a process,” he added.
Muhammad Shaban was lethal in front of goal as he netted twice to guide the Kasasiro Boys into the round of 32 of the prestigious tournament. Mubiru believes that with the right support, Shaban can score more goals.
“I am so happy with Muhammad Shaban who scored two goals and together with the team we shall continue supporting him to see that he scores more goals.”
“I am also happy with how Emmanuel Loki handled himself. He came from the bench and greatly changed the game. We would reach into the box but lacked composure, a challenge that Loki solved right away.”
KCCA will wait for the draws to know who they play next in the round of 32. However, they will return to action as they host BUL FC in the Uganda Premier League on Friday, February 2 at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
Uganda Premier League | Friday Results
Busoga United edged KCCA FC 2-1 in the Uganda Premier League at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Friday.
The heavy downpour delayed the kickoff of the game as the pitch was flooded and each half was played for 40 minutes thereafter.
The Kakasasiro were largely the better side on the day but were not clinical enough thus punished on the day.
KCCA nearly found the opener after Etienne Katenga whipped in a cross but Usama Arafat’s effort rattled off the crossbar in the 10th minute.
Dominic Ayella opened the scoring in the 27th minute after a well-curled effort at the far post to beat Busoga United goalkeeper Micheal Lutaya.
Five minutes later, Ronald Kasamba levelled matters from close range. The forward was set up by Ibrahim Kayiwa who nodded into the area without any contention.
Once again, KCCA gave away a cheap goal due to poor defence as they gave Kayiwa a lot of room to nod into the area.
In the second half, Usama Arafat came close thrice but his powerful efforts never found the target.
Before the full-time whistle, Emmanuel Ajo’s good run paid off perfectly giving Busoga United the hard-earned three points.
The victory takes Busoga United to 10 points in the ninth position while KCCA FC is 15th with four points.
KCCA FC returns to action on Friday, December 1 as they host Gaddafi while Busoga United visits SC Villa two days later.

KCCA FC head coach Abdallah Mubiru has called upon his troops to show the much-needed urge and determination ahead of the clash against Busoga United.
The two sides meet in the Uganda Premier League at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Friday.
The Kasasiro Boys come in this game off a huge 3-1 victory against bitter rivals Vipers SC.
In the prematch conference, Mubiru asked his troops to bring the same character that was exhibited during their clash against Vipers.
“We want to build on the character and determination that the boys expressed in the victory against Vipers,” he said.
“Busoga United will be a tricky opponent but we have had enough time and prepared well to encounter them with the much-needed attitude,” he added.
The newly appointed gaffer revealed that their plan is to express themselves but also have fun while with the ball.
“The aim is to play, express ourselves, have fun with the ball and I encourage them to do it as often as possible and let’s see if we can adapt to playing the KCCA way.
“I don’t want to predict what will happen at the end of the season but the approach is to go game by game and we see what we can achieve by the end of the campaign,” he concluded.
KCCA are 15th on the log with four points while Busoga United are 13th with seven games into the 2023/24 campaign.
After eight years, Abdallah Mubiru returns to KCCA FC, a club he left on a very bitter note back in 2015.
However, the gaffer believes the eight years have nurtured him and grown him into a better man ready for the assignment ahead of time.
During his maiden press conference after the announcement of the appointment, Mubiru announced that he left as a boy but now he returns as a man.
“I was a boy in my first stint here but am happy to announce that am now a man,” he confidently told the club’s media team.
“So I think, I have brought maturity back to this place and a lot of experience gathered from different teams as well as working with different players. All that I have gone through has given me a lesson,” he added.
“I expect to use that experience to win and gather whatever God has prepared for me to achieve here.
“I am happy that I am back to KCCA FC after eight years since I left here. It was God’s plan for me to leave so that I go through different scenarios before my return.
“I thank the board, management, and all stakeholders for the trust they have put in me to take over this role at such a critical time.”
Mubiru will face an immediate task to ensure that KCCA plays their way but while winning games something that has eluded the club in previous days.
Without a doubt, the gaffer is one of the best teachers of football but he will be targeting to turn that into tangible achievements which are trophies more so that KCCA has taken years without lifting a title.
After the appointment of Abdallah Mubiru as KCCA FC head coach, he has gone ahead to put together a technical team with which he will work.
Kefa Kisala is among those appointed to work under Mubiru as an assistant coach a role he will assume with Jackson Kaddu Magera.
Kisala returns to a club he played for from 1997 to 2000. So he understands the club’s philosophy as well as the demands from both fans and stakeholders.
Kisala has previously coached Kitayosce FC and Fountain Gate in Tanzania. Locally, he has coached Express FC, Wakiso Giants, Masaka LC, BUL FC, and URA FC.
KCCA FC started the season on a very low note, collecting just four points from seven games, also losing their first five opening games in the process before drawing against Arua Hill SC and later beating Vipers SC.
Among the changes in the shake-up is the appointment of Felix Ayobo as the Fitness Coach. Felix had been relieved from the role by Sergio Traguil before he was sacked.
Moses Oloya will continue in the office of goalkeepers while Saka Mpiima is tasked to build a strong junior side that can hopefully feed the senior team.
KCCA are 14th on the log with four points. They return to action on Friday, November 24.

The winless run for the two sides continues as they played to a one-all draw in the Uganda Premier League at Paridi Stadium in Adjumani on Tuesday.
KCCA FC and Arua Hill SC came into the game without a point having lost all the earlier five games in the ongoing campaign.
The hosts nearly took the lead through Ibrahim Musa but his header bounced off the frame after connecting well with Wahab Gadafi’s corner kick on 10 minutes.
Five minutes later, Gadafi finally placed the hosts in the driving seat with a cool touch after he found himself in the right place to perfectly connect to John Rogers’ cutback.
KCCA FC made an early change calling off Mustafa Kizza who was replaced by James Mubezi.
Arua Hill SC goalkeeper Richard Anyama produced a brilliant save to deny Shaban Muhammad’s dropping header halfway into the period.
As the game grew, the hosts preferred to sit back and also run down the clock as they kept their lead safe from reach.
At the stroke of halftime, Obenchan rose highest among a forest of bodies and flicked the ball past Anyama to restore parity.
Four minutes past the hour mark, Jackson Magera introduced Abu Mayanja and Dominic Ayella to replace Shaban Muhammad and Emmanuel Loki.
With eight minutes to play, KCCA were reduced to 10 men as Peter Magambo was shown matching orders receiving the second booking.
In the final minute of the game, Joao Gabriel’s lofted effort was nodded away as Dominic Ayella was waiting to tap into the empty net at the far post.
The hosts responded on the other side with a quick transition but Obenchan made a timely clearance to put away Regan Mpadde’s dangerous delivery.

KCCA FC will be determined to secure maximum points in the clash against Arua Hill SC at Paridi Stadium on Matchday Six of the Uganda Premier League.
The Kasasiro Boys are without a point in the five games played so far and languishing in the drop zone.
The poor start to the campaign has caused a lot of questions at the club, leading to the sacking of gaffer Sergio Traguil and this will be the second game under interim head coach Jackson Magera.
However, Arua Hill SC has equally found a hard time to impress after losing all five opening games of the season.
In a pre-match conference, Magera revealed that the boys are ready to take the team out of the hard time they have found themselves in.
“The camp is fantastic, the boys are ready to go onto the pitch and play.
“The game is not going to be easy because Arua Hill is in the same situation as us but we came here knowing the threat ahead of us. If the boys follow the plan it is very easy for us to get the game onto our side,” he said.
Head to head
KCCA last registered a league win away to Arua Hill in 2021 thanks to Davis Kasirye’s goal. In the other three times that the two sides have met in the league, KCCA FC has won once and Arua Hill has picked a victory, drawing in the other clash.
Team News
KCCA will miss the services of Julius Poloto (muscle injury), Faisal Wabyona (malaria), Haruna Lukwago (malaria) and Gui Cungulo (knee injury) who are still in the sickbay.
