Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC is set to name Andrew Sserunjogi as the new club chairperson.

Sserunjongi will be replacing Martin Ssekajja who has reportedly thrown in the towel at the Lugogo based club.

According to a source that spoke to New Vision, the chairman Ssekajja left KCCA and so there is need to replace him with someone in the authority.

“When Martin (Ssekajja) left KCCA, there was no way he could continue working as chairman,” the source said.

“Remember, the chairperson is the accounting officer of the club so he is supposed to liaise with the authority,” the source added.

“To be chairperson in the club does not mean you will run it. There structures put in place like the secretariat headed by the CEO who runs day to day activities of the club.”

“Even when Martin joined the club, he was not in the football circle but he managed to deliver,” it concluded.

The new chairperson will have an assignment to steer the club back to winning ways since there trophy drought has stretched to four years.

They also seek to go back to the continental stage and they are a two-legged affair away from the mark.

However, he will also be required to see that the MTN Omondi Stadium gets completed after a slow flow of the construction process.

FUFA Super 8 | Classification Game

KCCA FC edged SC Villa 3-2 in the FUFA Super 8 classification game played at MTN Omondi Stadium on Sunday to finish third.

It was a five-goal thriller as KCCA FC finished third in the game which attracted a huge crowd.

In the 21st minute, KCCA FC took the lead through Usama Arafat’s quick response into an empty net.

Ashraf Mugume’s well-weighed freekick caused trouble as SC Villa’s goalkeeper Norman Angufidru who tried to palm away but the ball sailed across the goal line.

With five minutes to play in the first stanza, Mujuzi was the saviour of KCCA as he shielded the ball in the dangerous area before Derrick Ochan collected the remains.

On the other side, KCCA made a quick transition before they witnessed Usama’s tap-in rattle off the frame.

In the 59th minute, SC Villa levelled the matters through David Owori from the 12-yard mark.

Five minutes later, Usama restored KCCA’s lead with a picture-perfect strike into the top corner of the net.

In the 69th minute, Mugume made it three with a crispy finish after being set up Usama in style.

There was a moment of madness in KCCA’s defence and Charles Lwanga was quick to respond and headed home as Mujuzi watched.

Johnson Odong found the back of the net but the assistant referee raised the flag citing an infringement on KCCA’s goalkeeper.

SC Villa were the best in the final minutes of the game but failed to guide the ball into the back of the net.

FUFA Super 8 | Results

KCCA FC 1-2 URA FC

URA FC registered a 2-1 victory against KCCA FC in the FUFA Super 8 at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Friday.

It was a deserving victory for the Tax Collectors who recently lost their head coach Sam Timbe.

In the fourth minute, Enoch Walusimbi fouled Usama Arafat in the dangerous area and the center referee awarded the hosts a penalty.

Moses Waiswa stepped up to the occasion but Denis Otim made a superb save to keep the scores goalless after five minutes.

In the 23rd minute, Ivan Ahimbisibwe’s powerful effort was too much for KCCA goalkeeper Antony Emojong to handle, and URA took the lead.

Five minutes later, Emojong made a stunning save denying Ahimbisibwe who had gone through a forest of bodies.

At half an hour mark, Filbert Obenchan headed home a free header after being set up by Saidi Mayanja to level matters.

Joseph Ssemujju remained with a keeper to beat after making a good run but his effort only found the side of the net.

Seven minutes into the second half, Muhammad Shaban was so close to giving KCCA the lead but Otim stretched to keep URA in the game.

In the last minute of the game of the game, Norman Nuwamanya set up Laban Tibita who regained URA’s lead late.

It was a painful loss to the Kasasiro Boys who had turned up in heavy numbers for the evening football fiesta.

The result means URA FC will play BUL FC in the finals of FUFA Super 8 while KCCA FC will face SC Villa in the semifinals of the tournament.

KCCA FC will seek to maintain a perfect run under their new coach Sergio Traguil as they face a URA FC side reeling from the loss of head coach Sam Timbe in the FUFA Super 8.

The Kasasiro Boys kick-started the campaign by eliminating Wakiso Giants in a 2-0 victory. On their way to the finals now stand the Tax Collectors.

During the press conference, Traguil urged his troops to stick to the plan so that they show something special.

“We need to show something special in this game,” he told the KCCA media.

“We our opponents have a very young squad and have signed over 10 players but if we stick to our principles and do things we have been doing in training all week then we shall have the edge over them,” he added.

While URA wants to fight for maximum points in honor of their fallen head coach Sam Timbe.

URA FC assistant coach Fred Muhumuza revealed that it’s been a hard time for them though the spirit is gradually improving.

“It has been tough times for us following the death of a father figure in Coach Sam Timbe but thank God we returned to training and the spirit is good,” Muhumuza noted.

“We have told players that Timbe wanted success and now they have to win to make him proud. We are playing a good side but if we are to win silverware then we ought to be set and ready to face anyone,” he concluded.

The last time the two teams played was at Metha Stadium, Lugazi as URA FC beat KCCA FC in a 2-0 well-deserved victory.

FUFA has announced that there will be a minute of silence before kickoff in memory of Timbe.

Uganda Premier League side Rogers Mato has confirmed the departure of Rogers Mato.

The transfer comes after Mato had spent two years as a Kasiro Boy after switching from Proline FC on a four-year employment contract.

With two years left on the ongoing contract, Mato has already joined the Turkish second-division side Sanliurfa Spor Kulubu.

The development has been made public via the club’s official website on Sunday, August 13, 2023.

“KCCA FC and Turkish side Sanliurfa Spor Kulubu have agreed for the transfer of Mato,” the statement partly read.

“Everyone at the club thanks Rogers Mato Kassim for the memories over the years and wishes him the best at his new club,” it added.

In the 2022/23 season, Mato had 11 and four assists making his their best player in a season they missed out on lifting the title due to a lesser goal difference.

The club only confirmed the transfer deal but hardly disclosed the other details that were agreed upon for the transfer to take place.

KCCA have started a new life under the tutelage of Portuguese Sergio Trangu and has already ousted Wakiso Giants in the FUFA Super 8 quarterfinals.

They are set to play URA FC in the Semifinals at MTN Omond Stadium as to set the ball rolling ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

Roving forward Hillary Othieno nearly levelled matters as the first stanza was ending but the youthful goalkeeper Anthony Emojong rushed off the goalline to make a stunning save.

In the second stanza, Sergio made ten changes, giving a chance to new players to allow them to get a feel of the green.

KCCA nearly doubled the lead through forward Vinicius Micheal but his well-timed header was palmed across the goalline.

Captain Julius Poloto rose highest and nodded home capitalizing on Haruna Lukwago’s well-weighed cross in the 67th minute.

The Lugogo-based side will now switch attention to their encounter against Wakiso Giants in the FUFA 8 at Lugogo.

Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC has added an Angolan duo to their roster ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The two entrants from Angola are Adilson Bruno Mfulu and Etienne Katenga extending the number of signings to six so far in the ongoing transfer window.

The 13-time UPL champions awarded Adilson and Katenga two-year employment contracts.

Katenga joins the Kasasiro Boys from Desportivo Lunda Sul where he played for the last two campaigns in the Angolan Premier League.

Before playing Desportivo, he played at Bangladesh side Uttar Baridhara after playing Saurimo FC and Cuando Cubago.

The other signing is right back Mfulu will provide more options at the backline with pace and energy.

The two have been training with KCCA as trialists and the confirmation of transfer cements that the club management has fallen in love with their services.

In an interview with the club’s media team, Mfulu expressed his excitement and joy to play for the Lugogo-based side.

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining KCCA FC. It is a huge step for me in my career, and I am really excited to get started,” he said.

“I have always admired the way KCCA FC play. They are a team that is always on the attack, and I think that is a style that suits me perfectly,” he added.

KCCA is preparing to play a practice game against Kenyan side Kakamega Homeboys on Friday, August 4 and they will announce their season squad.

Vipers SC continue to prepare ahead of the highly anticipated 2023/24 campaign where they will be vying for a slot on the continental stage.

As they look to strengthen their squad, Allan Okello has greatly been discussed and reports indicate the two camps are holding talks to see that they sort personal talks.

Last season, Okello played for his former side KCCA FC on a loan contract from his mother club AC Paradou.

The Algerian-based club availed the attacking midfielder to the Kasasiro Boys but hardly agreed to the deal crying foul that Okello’s set price tag was so high.

It’s reported that Vipers SC is ready to pay the set price and add Allan Okello into their arsenal so as to improve their squad to meet the required standards.

The Vipers’ camp is still worried about how bad Allan Okello’s nagging knee is but they will assess it and see how to move on with the deal as soon as possible.

The football faithful still wait to see, if Okello’s loyalty will hold him back from crossing to the rivals of his boyhood club, it’s only time that will bring it all to light.

Vipers have already signed Giancarlo Lopez Rodriguez, Richard Matovu, David Bagoole and Luiz Otavio Santos de Araujo.

Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC continues to boast its squad ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

The latest additions to the KCCA senior squad are three youngsters from their ever-providing academy.

The three players are Alex Yiga, Abubaker Mayanja and Anthony Emojong.

Yiga will take on the challenge to showcase with the senior team after concluding his invitation to football assessment programs in Scotland and England.

The youthful attacking midfielder is blessed with exceptional dribbling skills, trickery powerful shots and a blistering pace hence making him a true firing force.

While Mayanja is a prolific goal poacher who has a sharp eye for goals and shoots perfectly from a long-range from goal.

Emojong is a ball-playing goalkeeper with top reflexes and hails a great command around the goal area.

The three youngsters will be licensed for the 2023/24 season to work under the guidance of Portuguese gaffer Sergio Traguil.

KCCA has already unveiled Aires Emilson Gozanga, Carlos Da Silva Cungulo, Michael Vinicius and Joao Gabriel.

KCCA FC has unveiled their third signing Micheal Vinicius Silva De Morais.

He follows fellow countryman Joao Gabriel Esteves Cardoso and Angolan defender Aires Emilson Gonzaga.

The announcement was made via the club’s official website on Sunday evening.

“Brazilian Michael Vinicius Silva De Morais has signed for KCCA FC,” a statement partly read.

“Vinicius was born in Sao Francisco de Sales and is a citizen of Brazil,” it added.

The 30-year-old forward is not new on the continent having played for Asante Kotoko a team in Ghana.

He has previously played for Fluminese, Resende, Ferroviaria, Carscavel and Artsul all in the lower leagues of Brazil.

In his maiden interview with KCCA, Vinicius revealed his excitement upon finalising a deal with the Kasasiro Boys.

“I am excited to be joining KCCA FC in Uganda. I have had the opportunity to play for different clubs in the world but it’s great being here,” he noted.

“I have heard great things about KCCA FC. They are a well-respected club with a rich history and I am excited to be part of it,” he added.

Vinicius was part of the training session as the club kicked off its pre-season campaign.
