FUFA Big League | Sunday, October 8, 2023

Onduparaka Football Club and Lugazi Football Club registered slim victories in the FUFA Big League over the weekend.

Onduparaka registered a 1-0 victory against Kataka Football Club at Green Light Stadium in Arua.

After a false start in the loss against Blacks Power, The Caterpillars have gone on to register two consecutive victories.

Dominic Abonga’s lonely strike was the difference between the two sides in the tightly contested game.

After a goalless first stanza, substitute Abonga’s 56th-minute strike gave the caterpillars maximum points.

Malish Mandela found the chance of the hosts to take the lead, he created space at the edge of the box but his shot lacked the bend going wide of the left goalpost.

Later on, Ceasear came close twice but lady luck was not on his side as both strikes went wide.

The victory takes Onduparaka to six points in three games while Kataka has four points.

Next, Kataka hosts Kiyinda Boys on Thursday, October 12 while Onduparaka will return to action by visiting Kiyinda Boys on Sunday, October 22.

Elsewhere, Lugazi beat Calvary 1-0 to seal a hard-fought victory away from home.

However, the soft-spoken gaffer Kyeswa called upon the fans to turn up in large numbers so that they could support the club to achieve its set target.

“We call upon all fans to turn up in big numbers. We know how important our fans are for the home games. So their presence will give us the much-needed ambience to enjoy the game,” he concluded.
