National Volleyball League | Results

KCCA Volleyball Club secured a 3-0 victory against Elyon Volleyball Club in the National Volleyball League at Sport-S grounds, Nsambya, on Sunday.

Elyon suffered their second loss on the bounce since suffering the big low of Silver Owinjo being forced out due to a knee injury.

KCCA edged Elyon by two points (26-24) as the former sailed through the first set of the game.

Despite, Elyon’s massive fight in the second set, KCCA’s experience came to play to win the period by three points (25-22).

Elyon ran out of steam in the final set as they lost the period by four points (25-21).

The youthful Elyon side struggled to deal with KCCA’s hot spikes which kept them in the chasing park.

Elyon lacked an attacker to step into Owinjo’s shoes, and that’s something the coach has to deal with going forward.

Sport-S Ladies edged UCU Lady Doves 3-2 in the National Volleyball League encounter at Sport-S Grounds, Nsambya on Sunday.

UCU Lady Doves took an early lead with a dominant first set with six points (25-19).

However, Sport-S Ladies rallied back to claim the second set with seven points (25-18) in front of a loud crowd.

The third set saw UCU Lady Doves return to the driving seat in the close duel with a difference of two points (35-33).

But the hosts responded emphatically to level matters (25-20) before they sealed the win in the final period (15-13).

In the other ladies’ affair, KCB-Nkumba Ladies secured a well-deserved 3-0 victory against Elyon Ladies.

Nemostars edged Ndejje 3-2 in the National Volleyball League encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Wednesday evening.

It was a close and exciting encounter as two sides locked horns in a five-set thriller.

Nemostars got out of their blocks early to triumph in the first set with a difference of 12 points (25-13).

However, Ndejje Sharks returned to the game restoring parity after triumphing the second set (25-22).

Nemostars regained the lead after the third quarter with a (25-17) lead but Ndejje responded emphatically with a (25-21) victory thus setting up the fifth set.

The experienced side Nemostars edged Ndejje 15-12 to clinch the closely contested game.

At the end of the day, all the proceedings from the game were given to Elyon Volleyball Club in support of Silver Owinjo’s treatment.

Nemostars secured a well-deserved 3-0 victory against Elyon in the National Volleyball League at the Lugoogo Indoor Arena on Sunday.

Nemostars return to winning ways after being edged out by Sport-S in the previous game.Nemostars took the first set with six points (25-19). Elyon struggled with reception as the Nemostars capitalised on their experience.

Despite Elyon’s fight to return to the game, Nemostars were the better side, thus securing a 3-point lead (25-22) at the end of the second set.

Elyon suffered a big blow after Silver Owinjo suffered a knee injury in the second set of the game.

It was an end-to-end set as the game concluded. Nemostars made several changes to utilise their bench before winning the game with six points (25-19).

Nemostars have now won four games and lost twice in six outings. The experienced side continues to chance a slot in the playoffs.

NVL 2024-25 | Results

In a thrilling display of volleyball, Sport-S mounted a remarkable comeback to defeat Nemostars 3-2 in the National Volleyball League at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Sunday.

After falling behind 2-0, Sport-S dug deep and showcased incredible resilience to clinch the victory.

Nemostars took the first two sets, winning 31-29 and 25-19, respectively.

However, Sport-S refused to give up. They fought back to win the third set 25-2 and then dominated the fourth set 25-12 to level the match.

The decisive fifth set was a nail-biting affair, with both teams trading points. Ultimately, Sport-S emerged victorious, winning 15-9.

It was a perfect revenge for Sport-S, who lost 3-1 to Nemostars in National Club’s Championship at Old Kampala Arena in September.

This stunning comeback victory highlights the incredible talent and determination of the Sport-S team.

Elyon Volleyball Club secured a 3-0 victory against Police Volleyball Club in the 2024-25 National Volleyball League on Wednesday evening.

In the game that was played at Lugogo Indoor Arena, the youthful side maintained their perfect run, registering the third win of the day.

Elyon Volleyball Club got out of the blocks early edging out Police in the first set 24-21.

Police struggled in the second set with the reception due to Silver Owinjo’s diagonal spike, thus trailing by six points (25-19).

Despite Police’s fight in the third set, Elyon rotated their team but still came out of the contention with a perfect score.

Elyon Volleyball Club head coach Joshua Osia said it was a tough game, but their defensive prowess saw them through.

“It was a tough game, but I think today we had great defence and cover, which gave us the win against a good side like Police,” he said shortly after the game.

“I am glad that we are improving as a team. Out net defence in the previous games has been shaky, but I am glad we have looked better today in that area,” he added.

“It’s a young team, and I expect them to make some mistakes, but it’s a learning process. We shall keep working and supporting the boys so that we look better in the coming games.”

Serie A – Women

UCU Lady Doves registered a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Nemostars in the National Volleyball League at Nsambya Grounds on Sunday.

The Lady Doves extended their winning streak to four victories. Earlier, UCU secured victories against KAVC, Ndejje Elites, and KCCA.

Nemostars took an early lead of 25-20 as UCU Lady Doves struggled on the reception.

Despite the Mukono-based side’s push, Nemostars kept their heads high to take the second set 25-23, setting up a mouth-watering third set.

The Lady Doves got out of the shells and thumped Nemostars 25-12 in the third to return into the game.

The fourth set was closely contested as Nemostars wanted to close down the game, but UCU edged the block 25-22.

In the final set, UCU just did the needful to take it with a 15-11 lead, thus securing two points on the day.

UCU Lady Doves head coach Juma Osunge revealed the team hardly prepared fully due to tough time schedules.

“We have been training, but one thing our fans need to know is that most players who happen to also be students are doing internships,” he added.

“But I am happy that in the next three weeks, they will be done, and we shall resume our normal training,” he said.

“Some of our players had a very bad in office, but it’s normal. We shall go back and work upon our mistakes so that we find the lacking bond in the team.”

The National Volleyball League returns on Wednesday, October 9, at the Lugogo Arena in Kampala.

Uganda Christian University (UCU) will be locking horns with Nemostars as the volleyball faithful witness the maiden midweek fixture this campaign.

UCU Doves started the campaign on a slow note with a 3-0 loss to Elyon before they secured a 3-1 victory against Ndejje Sharks.

UCU Doves captain Mark Omara Ochan admitted that the season started on the wrong foot, but they have used the challenge and as a lesson going forward.

“Well, the loss against Elyon was an eye opener for the team, for us to concentrate and focus on every game at hand,” Omara said.

“We know all teams in Serie A are up for the top spot, so we should take every game with focus and seriousness for maximum points,” he added.

On the other hand, Nemostars have secured two victories in as many games played in the ongoing campaign.

They kicked off with a 3-1 victory against KCCA before they edged KAVC 3-2 in a closely contested affair.
