Uganda Premier League side URA FC will host their remaining home games at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

The development was confirmed via the club’s official website today Friday, April 12, 2024.

The change in venue signifies a new chapter as URA prepares for its next league chapter as they take on NEC FC on Tuesday, April 16.

For starters, URA was hosting their league games at Metha Stadium, Lugazi before the management of the place asked the club to seek homage elsewhere.

They later moved to MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo where they played Vipers SC before later moving to Wakisha.

The Tax Collectors will now embark on collecting as many points as possible in the remaining league games so as to improve their position on the log.

URA lies ninth on the log with 31 points in 23 games.

URA FC registered a narrow 1-0 victory against UPDF in the Uganda Premier League at Metha Stadium in Lugazi on Tuesday.

The Tax Collectors maintained the perfect course securing a second victory on the bounce. The performance displayed by David Obua’s boys was not their best but they will be glad for bagging yet another clean sheet.

Bagwani engineered a quick attack before he set up James Begisa in the 13th minute. The right back’s low drive effort was blocked by Bright Vuni in stellar fashion.

Laban Tibiita and Norman Namanya staged a brilliant inter-play to set up Begisa, whose effort was blocked seven minutes past half an hour mark before Namanya’s rebound skied above the frame.

Before the first half came to an end Viane Ssekajugo met Moses Aliro in front of goal but his diving header went wide of the frame by inches.

Coming from the changing room, the Tax Collectors threw more bodies and made their intentions clear looking for a quick goal.

Ssekajugo finally broke the deadlock with a header off Tibiita’s corner kick. The Tax Collectors gained the lead after Ssekajugo jumped highest among lanky defenders to find the back of the net.

Once again custodian Rogers Omedwa put up an exciting show that kept URA in the game thus going away with maximum points on the day.

The victory lifts URA into the sixth position with 27 points while UPDF are still locked in the red zone with nine points.

URA FC secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Gaddafi in the Uganda Premier League at Gaddafi Arena on Friday evening.

Norman Namanya scored the all-important goal to give the Tax Collectors maximum points from the tight duel.

Goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa pulled off a stunning save in the 22nd minute to deny Baker Buyala’s traveling long-distance effort.

Namanya broke the deadlock in the 30th minute. The midfielder was quick to tap home Laban Tibita’s delivery from the right flank in a smart move by the Tax Collectors.

Before the first stanza came to an end, Tibita’s snapshot rattled off the crossbar. URA failed to double the lead going into the long break.

Ten minutes into the second half, David Obua introduced Bunyaga, Hudu Mulikyi, Sekibengo, and Joseph Ssemujju for Tibita, Namanya, Saidi Kyeyune, and Lubwama.

Having spent only three minutes on the field of play, Ahimbisibwe troubled Gaddafi’s custodian Sekandi with a low-drive effort that was thwarted away to keep the result intact.

In the 72nd minute, Ssemujju beat his marker to pace before he was denied by Sekandi. Later defender Bashir Asiku rescued Gaddafi after clearing Bunyaga’s effort off the line.

The victory lifts URA to the seventh position with 24 points while Gaddafi is 13th with 16 points after 16 games played.

Uganda Premier League side URA FC opens up on why they will not be taking part in the 2024 Mapinduzi Tournament.

According to the club’s official website, the club failed to make it to the prestigious tournament due to FUFA’s tough conditions extended to URA.

The development was confirmed on Wednesday, December 27 as the club will now concentrate on the local engagements within the borders.

“URA will not take part in the 2024 Mapinduzi tournament scheduled between December 28 to January 13, 2024, in Zarzinbar,” the statement reads

“The letter from FUFA subjected URA to conditions agreed upon by FUFA and UPL. All URA FC SUPL fixtures must continue uninterrupted. URA commits to abide by the aforementioned condition in writing,” it added.

Yet the Tax Collectors are supported to play against Mbarara City on Friday, December 29 before the take on KCCA FC on Tuesday, January 2 and they will conclude the first round against SC Villa on Sunday, January 7.

URA previously won the Mapinduzi Cup in 2016 after beating Tanzania’s Mtibwa Sugar 3-1 in the finale.

Uganda Premier League side URA Football Club has finally named Uganda Cranes legend David Obua as their head coach.

The development was revealed to the public on Thursday, November 2 via the club’s official social media platforms.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of David Obua as new head coach on a one-year employment contract,” the statement partly read.

Obua takes the mantle from Fred Muhumuza who emerged in the role on an interim basis.

Muhumuza took over office after Sam Timbe’s sudden passing away in August this year.

In the six games played this season, URA FC has won twice, drawn thrice and lost once in their previous outing.

After the technical bench shake-up, Muhumuza will drop in the hierarchy thus becoming the second assistant coach.

The other members of the coaching staff are Peter Byaruhanga Adyeri (1st assistant coach), Robert Mukada (3rd assistant coach), Bryon Okuba (strength and conditioning coach) and Ilic Milos (fitness coach).

Uganda Premier League | Saturday Results

URA FC edged Wakiso Giants in a 1-0 narrow victory in the Uganda Premier League on Saturday at Metha Stadium, Lugazi.

Ivan Ahimbisibwe scored the only goal as the Tax Collectors collected maximum points from the duel.

URA FC nearly took the lead in the 7th minute through Ahimbisibwe after being set up by Norman Namanya but the forward’s effort went narrowly wide.

On the other side, it was Samson Kigozi giving URA FC’s backline trouble before he was fouled by Hudu Mulikyi. However, George Kaddu’s freekick only hit the well-set-up wall before it was cleared away.

URA FC yet again pressed and should have scored in the 23rd minute but Joseph Semujju skied his effort with an empty net in front of him.

Into the second half, the Tax Collectors returned fired up like a blazing house.

The hosts broke the deadlock through Ahimbisibwe with a volley right in the box that was flooded with several bodies. Wakiso Giants will feel undone since they would have cleared the loose ball before it landed on the feet of Ahimbisibwe.

URA had a glorious chance to double the lead through Namanya but Wakiso Giants goalkeeper Bashir Sekagya palmed it away in a tight angle.

It was a moment filled with emotion in the final minute of the game as Viane Sekajugo made a return to the field of play after a nasty injury last season.

Despite a stamped show in the second half by the hosts, they could not add to the earlier goal, and the game ended 1-0.

URA FC are now sixth with eight points while Wakiso Giants are ninth with four points after four games played.

Uganda Premier League side URA Football Club has named Enock Walusimbi as the new captain.

Walusimbi replaces defender Hudu Mulikyi who held the role for the recent game in the preseason and league kickstart.

The role has been awaiting confirmation since the departure of the custodian Alionzi Nafian to join the professional stint in Ethiopia.

It’s surprising that Walusimbi who joined the Tax Collectors in the recent transfer window has already given the team reason to entrust him with the armband.

Before today’s announcement, Walusimbi had already been captain in games against Bright Stars FC and Gaddafi FC.

He is not new to the mantle since he was also captain at Bright Stars and Express FC which he guided to league and Cecafa glory.

He will be deputised by goalkeeper Dennis Ofim and midfielder Saidi Kyeyune who will be the second and third captains respectively.

Bright Stars 1-1 URA FC

Bright Stars and URA FC shared spoils in a one-all draw in the Uganda Premier League Matchday 3 early kickoff duel at Kavumba Recreational Grounds on Thursday.

The display of the game was halted by a heavy downpour which made the pitch unplayable more so for the hosts who prefer a free-flowing game.

In the 19th minute, Ivan Ahimbisibwe jumped highest amidst a forest of bodies and nodded home Laban Tibita’s lofted cross into the area.

Bright Stars escaped a scare as goalkeeper Hassan Matovu palmed away Saidi Kyeyune’s hard effort after a brilliant interplay with Norman Namanya.

With two minutes to play in the first half, Kyeyune came close again only to witness his effort go narrowly wide. Ahimbisibwe held onto the ball well before releasing Kyeyune but the end product was not positive.

Eight minutes into the second half, Ahimbisibwe failed to get the ball past Matovu after Bright Stars gave away possession in a clumsy manner.

In the 79th minute, Senkatuka scored a belter getting on the end of the dropping ball into the area. Hudu Mulikyi and Najib Fesali failed to time the flight of the ball allowing it to get onto the feet of Bright Stars skipper.

The Stars remain winless in the ongoing campaign after two draws and a loss in the three games played so far.

While the Tax Collectors go to five points in two games thanks to a win and two stalemates.

Going forward, URA will host Wakiso Giants while Bright Stars will pay a visit to Express at Wankulukuku. Both games will be played on Saturday, October 21.

How they lined up

Bright Stars XI: Hassan Matovu (GK), Innocent Kitimbo, Denis Omony Kaka, Kato Nameyimana, Warren Buule, Ivan Irinimbabazi, Fiat Cleophus, John Kokas Alou, David Kiiza, Nelson Senkatuka, Yassin MugumeURA FC XI: Otim Dennis (GK), Walusimbi Enock, Ssenjoobe Eric, Najib Fesali, Hudu Mulikyi, Kalega Hassan, Namanya Norman, Wammanah Ibrahim, Ahimbisibwe Ivan, Tibita Laban, Aliro Moses

The role of head coach has been empty since the passing away of coach Sam Timbe but reports indicate the search is done.

Obua recently completed his UEFA A Diploma in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and the URA FC coaching assignment is set to be his next assignment.

Interim coach Fred Muhumuza will retake the assistant head coach position in the restructuring that will soon be confirmed by the club.

Obua is one of the finest talents having sprouted on the football scene. He gave a lot of joy to Ugandans with his lethal left foot and he needs no announcement.

However, as a coach, a lot will be required from him since he joins a club with huge promises but limited output in terms of success.

On Friday, September 22, URA will be hosting Gaddafi FC at Metha Stadium, Lugazi in their second game of the 2023/24 campaign.

FUFA Super 8 | Results

KCCA FC 1-2 URA FC

URA FC registered a 2-1 victory against KCCA FC in the FUFA Super 8 at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Friday.

It was a deserving victory for the Tax Collectors who recently lost their head coach Sam Timbe.

In the fourth minute, Enoch Walusimbi fouled Usama Arafat in the dangerous area and the center referee awarded the hosts a penalty.

Moses Waiswa stepped up to the occasion but Denis Otim made a superb save to keep the scores goalless after five minutes.

In the 23rd minute, Ivan Ahimbisibwe’s powerful effort was too much for KCCA goalkeeper Antony Emojong to handle, and URA took the lead.

Five minutes later, Emojong made a stunning save denying Ahimbisibwe who had gone through a forest of bodies.

At half an hour mark, Filbert Obenchan headed home a free header after being set up by Saidi Mayanja to level matters.

Joseph Ssemujju remained with a keeper to beat after making a good run but his effort only found the side of the net.

Seven minutes into the second half, Muhammad Shaban was so close to giving KCCA the lead but Otim stretched to keep URA in the game.

In the last minute of the game of the game, Norman Nuwamanya set up Laban Tibita who regained URA’s lead late.

It was a painful loss to the Kasasiro Boys who had turned up in heavy numbers for the evening football fiesta.

The result means URA FC will play BUL FC in the finals of FUFA Super 8 while KCCA FC will face SC Villa in the semifinals of the tournament.
