Vipers SC and URA played to an entertaining one-all draw in the Uganda Premier League at St Marys Stadium Kitende on Saturday.
Patrick Mbowa and Karim Ndugwa were on target as the two sides tussled it out under flood nights.
It was the second league game to be played at Kitende under floodlights and in the 13th minute, URA grabbed the lead through Mbowa after being set up by Nicholas Kabonge.
The midfielder benefited from a deflection off a Vipers’ defender to beat Fabien Mutombora.
The hosts came close as Hillary Mukundane almost nodded home Frank Tumwesigye’s corner kick but the effort went above the frame by inches.
Karim Ndugwa restored parity in the 38th minute. URA’s custodian dropped the ball in the area and Ndugwa was in the right place to tap home from close range.
In the second half, the visitors started the better side as they came knocking on the door through Ibrahim Dada and Joshua Lubwama but the efforts went wide.
Later on, Tumwesigye came close with a venomous shot but it went wide narrowly.
The statement kept Vipers third at 36 points while URA is fourth on the log with 34 points.
In the next games, the Vipers will Arua Hill away from home on Wednesday while the Tax Collectors will return to action on Saturday as they host Gaddafi.
