Kawempe Muslim Secondary School clinched the 2024 USSSA Girls Football national title.
Kawempe Muslim secured a 5-4 penalty victory against Rines SS at Standard High Secondary School Ndejje Campus playground.
The end-to-end encounter ended goalless in normal time and the referee sent both sides into deciding penalties.
During the spot kicks, Kawempe Muslim’s custodian Haira Nabbosa made two superb stops to deliver the trophy to the school.
It was the eighth time Kawempe Muslims were getting hold of the national title to cement further their place on the throne of girls’ football in the country.
It’s been a beautiful year for Kawempe Muslim who lifted the FUFA Women’s Super League title and the national schools’ title this year.
It was a moment of honour and pride for Rines SS who played their first-ever final in the history of girls’ football in the country.
After the concluded tournament, the qualified school will embark on preparations for the FEASSA Games that will be played later this year.

USSSA Games 2024 | Results
Kawempe Muslim Secondary School secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against St Noa Girls in the semifinals of the 2024 USSSA Games on Thursday evening.
In a tight game played at Standard High Ndejje Campus, Hadijah Babirye’s finish was the difference between the two sides.
It was a cagey game in the opening minutes as neither side had hardly taken charge of the proceedings.
Five minutes to the end of the first stanza, Babirye was brave to node home from close range before getting into a challenge with St Noa’s custodian.
Babirye kept her eyes on Sharifah Nakimera’s long effort before guiding it into the back of the net.
In the second half, St Noa pegged Kawempe Muslim onto the back foot but failed to guide the ball past the goal line.
On several occasions, Sumaiyah Nalumu whipped in nice deliveries in search of Sylvia Kabene, but the forward was a shadow of himself.
Despite St. Noa throwing in everything upfront Kawempe’s backline stood tall and calm to keep everything in their favour.
In the other semifinal encounter, Rines SS registered a sweet 2-0 victory against defending champions Amus College.
Last year’s finalists, Amus College and St Noa will face off in the classification game before the final gets underway.
USSSA Games 2024 | Quaterfinals
The quarterfinals lineup climaxed with an epic show as St Noa Secondary School Zzana humbled Boni Consil Girls Vocational in the day’s biggest victory.
St Noa Girls secured a 7-0 victory against Boni Consil in the quarterfinal encounter at Standard High School, Ndejje Campus on Wednesday.
Sylvia Kabene (hattrick), Summayah Nalumu (brace), Nancy Mandera and Mackline Niwaninda’s own goal gave the Zanna-based school a sweet victory.
Niwaninda slotted the ball into her net in the 12th minute as she tried to clear away Kabene’s effort from close range.
Later on, Nalumu scored twice on the bounce in the 24th and 34th minute to ensure that St Noa went into the break with a 3-0 lead.
Minutes into the second half, Kabene opened her tally with a delightful strike before Mandera extended St Noa’s lead to five.
Kabene concluded the day’s assignment with two more goals as St Noa registered a well-deserved 7-0 victory.
St Noa will return to action on Thursday as they take on Kawempe Muslim in the semifinals of the ongoing tournament.
To reach this stage, Kawempe Muslim eliminated Uganda Martyrs High School in a 5-4 spot kicks victory after firing blanks in normal time.
In the other quarterfinal encounter, Rines SS fought from a goal down to edge Sheema Girls 2-1 in a close contest.
Amus College secured a well-deserved 5-0 victory against Sacred Heart in the ongoing 2024 USSSA Games at Standard High, Ndejje Campus.
The girls’ football was postponed due to national team engagement, and so the four schools had to come and conclude the unfinished business.
Shayline Opisa fired Amus College ahead with a powerful effort from close range in the third minute of the game.
Midway through the first stanza, Sacred Heart pilled more pressure on Amus College, but the backline stood calm and tall.
Opisa nearly doubled Amus’ lead in the 28th minute, but his effort went directly to the custodian’s palms steps away from the goal line.
With five minutes to end the first stanza, Opisa was gifted through Sacred Hearts’ backline howler and the forward converted from close range.
Four minutes into the second half, Opisa completed a hattrick with a low, powerful strike after beating her marker to pace.
Edina Wanda’s first touch off the well-taken corner found the corner of the net as Amus College kept their candle burning.
Doreen Wandera was on the end of a quick counterattack as Amus College added more salt to the wounds of Sacred Heart.

USSSA Games | Boy’s Football Final
St Julian High School lifted their maiden USSSA Boys’ Football Championship after a well-deserved 3-0 victory against Amus College at Mpungu Arena on Sunday.
James Ssekatte (brace) and Simon Wanyama were on the target as St Julian earned all the bragging rights on the day.
The game started at a slow pace as both sides struggled to get the right rhythm for the occasion.
Ssekatte fired St Julian ahead in the 15th minute after tapping home from a rebound after Amus College’s custodian fumbled with the early effort.
Four minutes later, Ssekatte doubled St Julian’s lead with a simple but brilliant finish after Amus College’s backline failed to get the ball out of its goal area.
Midway through the second stanza, Amus College’s captain Toto Najub was sent off for a handball that denied a goal-bound effort.
Wanyama stepped up on the occasion and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way as he extended St Julian’s lead.
It was a sweet victory for St Julian who were playing their first USSS Boys’ Football tournament.

Pajule Lions 1-0 Pakwach Young Stars
BUL secured a 6-5 penalty shootout victory against KCCA in the Uganda Cup at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Saturday.
Experienced forward Alex Kitata fired the hosts ahead with an electric strike in the forst ten minutes of the game.
Five minutes later, Ettiene Katenga leveled matters with yet another thrilling finish breathing like into the visitors crowd.
Both sides came close several times but failed to convert the chances infront and close to the goalline. The game was sent to extra time which equally didn’t yield match.
After 30 minutes of extra time, both sides were sent into penalty kicks.
Ibrahim Kazindula, Ibrahim Mugulusi, Joel Mutakubwa, Ronald Otti, Walter Ochora and Pascal Ngobi scored for BUL, while Joram Kiirya guided his guided his effort above the frame.
Musitafa Mujuzi, Musitafa Kizza, Joel Sserunjogi, Filbert Obenchan, Emmanuel Loki scored, while Herbert Achai and Peter Magambo missed their attempts.
Elsewhere, Pajule Lions secured a 1-0 victory against Pakwach Young Stars in the other quarterfinal tie.
USSSA Kampala Regional Qualifiers – Final
Kibuli SS managed to defend their Kampala Regional crown after edging Kawempe Muslim in the boy’s football final.
In the game played at Kibuli lower ground, the USSSA Kampala Regional finals got a huge attendance as crowds turned up to rally behind the young talents.
Allan Kitimbwa broke the deadlock with good strike from close range. Kitiibwa faced a challenge from defender Ronald Kimera but the forward strong before he guided the ball home.
From that point, Kawempe took full charge of the game giving a lot of trouble to the hosts’ whose home crowd had gone silent.
In the 23rd minute, Kibuli came close to levelling matters through Ibrahim Mansuri after beating a forest of legs before he guided the ball inches wide of the frame.
It was a more open game in the second half as both sides kept attacking as the fans kept chatting as they witnessed the thrilling game.
Kibuli came close once again as Patrick Sserujongi’s delivery gave Kawempe Muslim’s backline trouble before the Kawempe’s custodian collected the remains.
Alfred Ssebunya levelled matters with a low powerful strike as Kawempe Muslim finally conceded to the continuous pressure from the hosts.
With ten minutes to play, Steven Bukenya replaced Isma Jjuuko who was earlier lifted off the field of play due to a muscle strain.
After a one-all draw in normal time, the hosts Kibuli went on to win the game in penalties edging a sprinted Kawempe side.
It was not an easy day for Kawempe Muslim who earlier lost to Uganda Martyrs 1-0 in the girls’ football final.
USSSA Qualifiers 2024 | Quarterfinals
As the knockout stage hits the second day, eight schools will be out vying for the four semifinal spots in the ongoing competition.
Four thrilling quarterfinal matchups will see eight teams lock horns in Kalangala District for the USSSA Masaka Regional Qualifiers.
After close group stage games, schools were treated to a tough and gruelling Round of 16 where Blessed Sacrament Kimanya and St Henry’s College Kitovu secured victories in dying minutes.
In the most anticipated games of the day, St Henry’s Kitovu will face St Charles Lwanga at Kaala Ground.
With the Catholic background, the two schools have been fighting for bragging rights for quite a while.
While fans’ favourite Blessed Sacrament Kimanya will take on St James SS at Lutoboka playground in the morning.
At the same ground, Masaka SS (hosts of the Nationals) will take on NUMASA earlier in the morning while the other encounter will see Sseke SS against Africa With Love Secondary School.
Masaka Region will be represented at the Nationals by five schools including the hosts.
