Uganda has qualified for the semifinals of the 2021 FIBA Africa U16 Women’s Championship in Cairo, Egypt.

The Junior Gazelles won the second of the four games played thus far. They followed up the win registered against Chad on Monday with a 53-25 victory over Gabon on Wednesday night.

Junior Gazelles won three quarters and a 14-2 first-quarter score gave them a solid foundation on which they built during the second half despite a slight setback in the second period.

Mariam Namukwaya scored a game-high 14 points and picked team-high 17 rebounds while Gertrude Nyamutoro contributed 13 points and made 5 assists.

Junior Gazelles are yet to play Algeria who they face on Thursday night but with a playoff semifinals ticket sealed.
