Uganda's U20 Women’s National Team progressed to the third round of the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers after completing a double over neighbours Kenya.

Uganda beat Kenya 3-1 at St. Mary’s Stadium – Kitende on Friday thanks to goals from Margaret Kunihira, Hadijah Nandago, and Juliet Nalukenge.

Skipper Peris Oside converted from the spot to give Kenya the consolation.

Kunihira fired the home side into the lead barely a quarter an hour into the game, tapping home a well-delivered corner kick by Sumaya Komuntale.

The lead was however short-lived with the visitors leveling matters five minutes later through Oside's penalty.

However, Uganda regained the lead about five minutes to the halftime break through diminutive midfielder Nandago.

As the game neared the end, Nalukenge made up for the misses with a stoppage-time free-kick from the edge of the area.

The result means Uganda advances to the next round of the qualifiers with a 10-3 score on aggregate having won the reverse fixture 7-2 at Nyayo National Stadium a couple of weeks ago.

Uganda will now take on South Africa in the next round.

Uganda's XI: Daphine Nyayenga(GK), Samalie Nakacwa, Sumaya Komuntale, Bira Nadunga, Aisha Nantongo, Shakira Nyinagahirwa, Shamirah Nalugya, Hadijah Nandago, Juliet Nalukenge, Fauzia Najjemba, Margret Kunihira
