Cricket Cranes will prepare for the second round of the Challenge League B with a tour to Namibia scheduled for 6th-13th April.
The team was flagged off on Monday and is expected to fly out in the wee hours of Wednesday for the tour at which they will play three T20 internationals and two fifty-over matches.
Last year, Namibia hosted the Cricket Cranes and swept all the games and Uganda's head coach Lawrence Mahatlane believes this year's tour will help gauge how far his side has come.
"This is going to be the highest team we have ever played in terms of ICC rankings. They’re ranked 16th in T20i and are already guaranteed a spot in the World Cup.
"We have the perfect chance to gauge where we are and it is going to be a good experience for the youngsters to experience some tough cricket. We want to see how far we have come in one year since we last played them,” Mahatlane said.
Young fast bowler Juma Miyagi who impressed at the U19 World Cup has been called up along with batter Emmanuel Hasahya.
“We have been preparing for this event for a while and I believe the boys are ready. The youngsters in the team have been equally exciting in the build-up and generally, we’re looking forward to a great year ahead,” added the South African coach.
