The 20th Edition of the East Africa Netball Club championship came to an end on Saturday, 14th May at Kamwokya Community Sports Centre.

Ugandan sides National Insurance Corporation (NIC) Netball Club and Kampala University (KU) claimed the titles in the women's and men’s categories respectively.

NIC defended its title by beating Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Netball Club 44-35 in the all-Ugandan final.

It was NIC’s 18th trophy since this new version of the tournament was introduced in 1999. Only Prisons, in 2016 and 2017, have denied them the title.

Kampala University, on the other hand, also defended their title but on goal difference. Their game again WOB, which ended all square at 31-31, meant the Ugandans win through a superior goal difference after both teams finished with 5 points in the men’s tournament that was played on a round-robin format. It was KU’s third regional title

Individual Awards

Prison Netball Club midcourt star Jesca Achan was voted the Most Valuable Player of the tournament while NIC’s shooter Stella Oyella took the topscorers’ gong with 244 goals in six games.

Next Tournament

The 21st edition will be hosted by Kenya Next year. NIC, KCCA, Prisons, and Makindye Weyonje will represent Uganda in the women’s category.
