Victoria Pearls stars Proscovia Alako and Phiona Kulume have been selected to start training with the provisional Uganda U-19 girl's squad that is preparing for the U-19 Cricket World Cup qualifiers due September.
Uganda Cricket Association released the list of 27 players who will be fine-tuned ahead of their tour to Botswana to face hosts Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Tanzania.
They will all tussle for a place at the World Cup will take place in South Africa from January 2023. The qualification process already started on 3 June and teams to feature at the showpiece are already shaping up.
Alako and Kulume are considered the star players who will spur the team to glory never witnessed before. The duo come on board with experience from the Victoria Pearls team, Kulume having won player of the match when she picked six wickets against Namibia.
The provisional squad also includes fast-rising gems in Jimia Muhammad who debuted with the Victoria Pearls in Namibia this year, Ariokot Malisa, Patricia Timong, Anyait Lonah and Acan Racheal.
