Uganda U-19 girls made it to the semifinals of the T20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers after collecting a 23-run win against Sierra Leone on Sunday.

The victory was an addition to their 4-wicket opening win against Namibia, Uganda qualifying for the semifinals.

Their final group game will be against host Botswana, a tie that they need to win to finish top of the log.

Sierra Leone won the toss and elected to bowl. Uganda struggled at the start especially after losing opener Proscovia Alako at 30/2 in 10 overs.

Sandra Achawo (48) and Patricia Timong (29) however turned up in the last 10 overs to help Uganda finish on 107/4 in their 20 overs.

Patricia Timong did a spectacular bowling job with 2/16, Rachel Achan complementing her with 1/11.

Uganda returns to action on Tuesday morning against host Botswana.
