The 2022-23 National Volleyball League got underway on Saturday at the MTN Arena in Lugogo and the opening day was not short of surprises.
In the Men's Division, Sport-S shocked defending champions OBB, winning the one-sided encounter in straight sets (25-23, 25-16, 25-14).
Meanwhile, Ndejje University continued its dominance over Nemostars this season as they beat the six-time league champions and last season's finalists 3-2 (25-20, 26-28, 17-25, 25-20, 15-13). It was the third win for Ndejje over Nemostars this season having beaten them in the Ndejje Open and the National Club Championship in Iganga.
The other men's game played saw KAVC-A beat UCU in straight sets (25-23, 25-16, 25-14).
In the women's division, Sport-S eased past KAVC 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-20), Ndejje University beat KCCA 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-21, 25-15) while OBB edged KCB-Nkumba 3-2 (25-13, 22-25, 25-23, 16-25, 09-15) in a thriller.
