Mbale Heroes and Wakiso Giants are through to the Round of 32 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup. In a Round of 64 game played at Buhinga Stadium, WakisoGiants beat Regional League side Fort Portal Boda Boda 3-1. Norman Ojik, Moses Aliro and Frank Ssebuufu were on target for the Purple Sharks. The Purple Sharks will now shift their attention to the Uganda Premier League as they open the second round against KCCA on Thursday, 9th February at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium. Four Regional League sides Mbale Heroes, Kigezi HomeBoyz, Adjumani Town Council, and Lugazi FC also progressed to the Round of 32. Mbale Heroes beat Araka 2-0 at Mbale Stadium, and Adjumani dumped out Simba FC 4-2 through a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in normal time at Namulonge Grounds in Gayaza. Kigezi HomeBoyz eliminated FUFA Big League side Booma FC after a 2-1 win at Kabale Municipal Stadium while Lugazi FC also edged Water 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 stalemate at UICT Grounds. The game between Busoga United and hosts JLOS was not played after the UPL side’s Coaster broke down en route to Kitgum. 20 teams have so far confirmed their. places in the Round of 32 and they include Kigezi HomeBoyz, Mbale Heroes, Adjumani Town Council, Lugazi, Wakiso Giant, Kisugu, Kyinga, Gorilla Highland, Blacks Power, Villa, Police, Vipers, BUL, Kitara, Ndejje University, Jinja North United, Admin, Junior Eagles, Pajule Lions, and Blue Stars.
