NEC Football Club has confirmed qualification to the Uganda Premier League on the final day of the FUFA Big League. The Bugolobi-based side managed to achieve the feat after a 4-1 victory against Kataka FC at Mbale Municipal Stadium. Julia Walugembe netted a brace with Tony Kiberu and Marvin Kavuma also on target to ensure NEC squeeze a late entry into the top tier. Kiberu gave the visitors an early lead guiding the ball into the back of the net. Captain Kavuma doubled the lead a minute to the top of the hour. Walugembe’s brace came late in the 63rd and 70th minutes respectively. The home side pulled back one but it was more like a drop in an ocean claiming no significance in the duel. The victory took NEC to 57 points gathered from 30 games. They managed 17 wins, six draws and seven losses.
