Mwenge South and Kyaka counties have taken up the two spots in the Tooro Kingdom MTN Masaza Cup finals.

The two counties will face the epic showdown on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Buhinga Stadium, Fort Portal City.

Before the football showpiece the fans will be treated to a bicycle race, the Tooro Kingdom sports minister Micheal Wandera announced.

The winner of the bicycle race will be awarded UGX 1.5 million and the runners-up will take UGX 1 million.

How they reached the finals

Mwenge South beat Mwenge North 3-1 on aggregate. After a 1-1 stalemate in the first leg, Mwenge South turned up in the second leg and registered a 2-0 victory.

In the 44th minute, Solomon Wafula struck Mwenge South into the lead before Eric Mirembe doubled the lead in the second half.

The reigning champions, Kyaka County also leap-frogged Burahya to take the second slot in the highly anticipated finals.

In the first leg, the two sides fired blanks before playing to a nail-biting second leg a week later.

Kyaka’s custodian Geoffrey Mucunguzi was outstanding making continuous saves to carry his side to yet another final in a consecutive year.
