CAF Women Champions League Qualifiers
- JKT Queens 1-0 New Generation
JKT Queens registered the second victory in as many games of the CAF Women Champions League Zonal Qualifiers to maintain positive momentum.
The Champions of Tanzania picked a 1-0 victory against Zanzibar's New Generation in a game played at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday.
The only but all-important goal was scored by Esther Mabanza to give JKT maximum points on the day.
The JKT Queens were the better side in the first stanza but failed to utilize their chances hence firing blanks by the end of the first 45 minutes.
Eleven minutes into the second stanza, Mabanza finally broke the deadlock to give JKT Queens a well-deserved lead after a long hunt.
It was a well-crafted goal since Mananza, hit the ball hard to guide it into the left bottom corner leaving New Generation's goalkeeper Faraja Kimnola with no choice.
The result meant it was the second win for the JKT Queens having defeated AS Kigali 2-1 in their opening duel.
JKT will play Vihiga Queens of Kenya in their last game of Group B.
The top two sides of the group will go straight into the semifinals of the ongoing tournament where the ultimate victor will qualify for the Women CAF Champions League that will get underway in November later this year.
