  • Vipers SC 3-0 Wakiso Giants

Vipers SC whitewashed Wakiso Giants in a 3-0 victory in Uganda Premier League at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday evening.

The game that was played under floodlights lived up to the expectations as the two sides staged a thrilling game.

Eric Kambale had a chance to put Vipers ahead as early as the eighth minute but his header off Ashraf Mandela’s delivery went wide.

Five minutes later, Karim Watambala fired home to open the party at Kitende. Yunus Sentamu set up the youngster whose effort found the top corner of the net.

From that point, the hosts got full charge of the game as Abdul Lumala pulled the strings up front.

Wakiso Giants had a chance to restore parity, but Jack Komakech blocked Kenneth Kimera but Mandela cleared the deflection off the line.

With five minutes to play in the first half, Leonard Neiva made the first change introducing Rogers Torach in the place of injured Murushid Juuko.

Komakech warmed his palms thwarting Tom Matsiko’s free-kick from a powerful long-range effort.

After putting to waste a number of chances, Sentamu doubled the hosts' lead through a perfect belter.

The most beautiful moment of the game came in the 66th minute as Sentamu’s 40-yard effort beat Wakiso Giants’ custodian Bashir Ssekagya who had moved steps away from the goal line.

At the stroke of full time, Watambala sealed the perfect victory for the hosts after placing Semtamu’s pass at the far post and the home crowd roared in high gears of confidence.

The victory sends Vipers to the third position with 14 points gathered from six games while Wakiso Giants are 11th with four points.
