NEC FC registered a 2-0 victory against URA FC in the Uganda Premier League on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.

In the game played at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, Joseph Dhata and Cromwell Rwothomio scored the two goals as NEC outclassed the Tax Collectors to return to winning ways.

It was a tight contest from the first whistle as either side equally shared possession on the green turf.

Half way the first half, Ivan Ssebagala came close twice but was denied by Denis Otim before the second attempt skied above the frame.

Joseph Dhata shot NEC FC into the lead with four minutes to conclude the first stanza to breathe life into the game.

Dhata picked a loose ball after Hudu Mulikyi's poor ball control and later released a powerful low drive past URA goalkeeper Denis Otim.

Ten minutes into the second half, Cromwell doubled the hosts' lead with an easy tap-in a few meters away from the goal line. Okocha beat his marker Dada Ibrahim before he whipped in a well-weighed cross that was perfectly converted by Cromwell.

Six minutes after an hour mark, Cromwell connected with Okocha's delivery but only tapped it inches wide.

Ivan Ahimbisibwe nearly pulled back one for the visitors but his bouncing header went an inch wide of the frame in the 74th minute.

The victory lifts NEC to the fourth position with 19 points while URA are eighth with 13 points after playing 10 games.

Hussein Mbalangu's troops will return to action as they visit BUL on Sunday, December 10 while URA host Arua Hill on the same day.
