Uganda Premier League | Wednesday Fixtures
- Gaddafi vs BUL – 4 PM
- Arua Hill SC vs Express – 4 PM
- Vipers vs NEC FC – 7 PM
BUL FC ended 2023 on top of the Uganda Premier League and more good news came as they secured a thrilling 3-2 victory against the defending champions Vipers SC.
Thereafter they concluded the year with a narrow 1-0 victory against Busoga United. The oil manufacturers secured the Jinja Derby bragging rights thanks to Alex Kitata’s lonely goal.
However, another assignment awaits them as they visit Gaddafi FC in yet another Jinja Derby on Wednesday, January 3.
In the pre-match interview, BUL Head Coach Abby Bogere Kikomeko revealed that Jinja Derbies are always a big challenge but as a team they are up for it.
“Tomorrow [today] we are playing our second derby against Gaddafi FC. It has always been a tough team to play but played the first derby against Busoga and managed to win it,” he said.
“We shall do all it takes to see that we register maximum points from the game. I know they lost their previous game against Maroons so they will be seeking to bounce back. They will have the home advantage but we shall fight to pick something positive,” he added.
BUL FC will miss hard-working midfielder Pascal Ngobi who is still out due to a long-term injury. The gaffer confirmed that all the other players are available for selection.
On the other side of the coin, Gaddafi comes into this game after falling to Maroons in a huge 5-0 loss. This marks three consecutive losses to Villa (1-0), Wakiso Giants (1-0) and recently the Prison Wardens.
The fixture is so crucial to both sides as BUL seeks to extend its lead on the log, Gaddafi will be fighting tooth and nail to end the poor run.
Last season, both games played between the two sides ended as draws (0-0 and 1-1). Gaddafi lies 13th on the log with 13 points after playing 13 games.
