Kitara continued to cement their title ambitions with a 1-0 victory against KCCA in the Uganda Premier League at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Friday.

In a game played under the floodlights, Denis Omedi was the hero of the night as he fired home the only goal that gave Kitara the win.

The victory at Lugogo meant that the Royals had completed a league double by beating KCCA at home and away.

The game was witnessed by a very huge crowd, one that is so rare in the league and the local sports at large.

In the first half, Jude Ssemugabi and Erick Muber came close to placing the visitors in the lead but somehow failed to get the ball on target with the right energy.

KCCA came back from the locker rooms seeming more organized and having the right character for such a great encounter.

Ten minutes into the second half, Muhammad Shaban nearly found the back of the net but the ball went wide of the frame.

After missing a number of chances Omedi gave Kitsra the lead in the 79th minute. KCCA’s backline failed to deal with a loose ball in the area before the quick-footed forward fired it home.

Kitara is second on the log with 36 points two behind log leaders BUL while KCCA is ninth on the table with 23 points only.
