Uganda duo Gladys Mbabazi and Husinah Kobugabe clinched the first badminton medal in the ongoing 2023 African Games on Sunday.

The achievement was reached in the entertaining game that was played in the multipurpose

Uganda secured a 2-0 victory that posted a perfect show in the tight game played for 33 minutes.

Mbabazi and Kobugabe showed great class and chemistry as they registered a 23-21 lead after the first quarter.

At one point the game tied 19-19 before 20-20 and 21-21 however the period came to an end as Uganda carried a two-point lead 23-21.

Going into the second set, Uganda established a two-point for the most time in the period.

At the end of the period, it was a seven-point victory for Uganda at the end of the game.

Uganda has had a fair performance at the ongoing tournament with seven medals (one gold, three silver and three bronze).
