African Games 2023 – Semi-finals
- Uganda vs Congo
- Ghana vs Senegal
Uganda Hippos will face the Congo Republic in the semifinals of the ongoing African Games 2023.
The Hippos are on a perfect run having won three games in as many group encounters in the games happening in Ghana.
To reach the last four, Uganda sealed the group business with a narrow 1-0 victory against South Sudan thus securing a top spot in Group B.
In this encounter, the Hippos gaffer Morley Byekwaso chose to flip in a few chances giving the bench players an opportunity.
Apollo Kagogwe scored the lonely goal in the tight encounter where Uganda created several chances though you must credit the organisation of South Sudan.
The right back’s powerful strike found the back of the net as Uganda took the lead in the 74th minute of the game.
Uganda will now embark on the medal chase as they play Congo in the semifinals.
A win in that game simply means that the Hippos will earn the ticket to the finals where they are guaranteed either silver or gold.
