USSSA Kampala Regional Qualifiers – Final

Kibuli SS managed to defend their Kampala Regional crown after edging Kawempe Muslim in the boy’s football final.

In the game played at Kibuli lower ground, the USSSA Kampala Regional finals got a huge attendance as crowds turned up to rally behind the young talents.

Allan Kitimbwa broke the deadlock with good strike from close range. Kitiibwa faced a challenge from defender Ronald Kimera but the forward strong before he guided the ball home.

From that point, Kawempe took full charge of the game giving a lot of trouble to the hosts’ whose home crowd had gone silent.

In the 23rd minute, Kibuli came close to levelling matters through Ibrahim Mansuri after beating a forest of legs before he guided the ball inches wide of the frame.

It was a more open game in the second half as both sides kept attacking as the fans kept chatting as they witnessed the thrilling game.

Kibuli came close once again as Patrick Sserujongi’s delivery gave Kawempe Muslim’s backline trouble before the Kawempe’s custodian collected the remains.

Alfred Ssebunya levelled matters with a low powerful strike as Kawempe Muslim finally conceded to the continuous pressure from the hosts.

With ten minutes to play, Steven Bukenya replaced Isma Jjuuko who was earlier lifted off the field of play due to a muscle strain.

After a one-all draw in normal time, the hosts Kibuli went on to win the game in penalties edging a sprinted Kawempe side.

It was not an easy day for Kawempe Muslim who earlier lost to Uganda Martyrs 1-0 in the girls’ football final.
