SC Villa secured a 3-2 victory against Wakiso Giants in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Wednesday.

SC Villa fought from two goals down to register maximum points in a tough duel against a resilient Wakiso Giants side.

Ronald Ssekiganda, Umar Lutalo and Regan Mpadde scored for SC Villa while Samson Kigozi and Hassan Ssenyonjo were on target for the visitors.

Ssekiganda nearly gave the hosts the lead in the seventh minute with a powerful curling effort but missed the target by inches.

Charles Lwanga forced Bashir Ssekagya into a fine save to palm away the brilliant finish in the 31st minute.

Kigozi broke the deadlock with five minutes to conclude the first stanza of the game.

Eleven minutes into the second half, Ssenyonjo doubled Wakiso Giants’ lead leaving the hosts’ backline stranded.

Sekiganda pulled back one for the hosts in the 67th minute with a powerful header off Gavin Kizito’s darling delivery from the right flank.

In the 79th minute, Patrick Jonah Kakande was tripped in the dangerous area and the center referee awarded the hosts a penalty.

Lutalo stepped up for the occasion and converted from the spot guiding the ball past Wakiso Giants custodian Ssekagya.

Second-half substitute Mpande scored the winning goal after tapping the ball home from close range in the 86th minute.

The victory sends SC Villa in the third position with 48 points while Wakiso Giants lie 12th with 29 points from 26 games.
