AFCON U20 Qualifiers | Result

  • Uganda 3-1 Burundi

Uganda U-20 National Team secured a 3-1 victory against Burundi in the CECAFA Regional AFCON Qualifiers on Sunday evening.

In the game played at KMC Stadium, Burundi kicked off on the front but the Hippos turned the score around.

Ramazan Hakizimana found the back of the net in the fifth minute to give Burundi an early lead.

Before the end of the first stanza, Abubakali Walusimbi restored parity to reignite Uganda's hope in the game.

At the hour mark, John Paul Dembe placed Uganda in the lead as the forward extended his scoring tally to five goals.

Dembe completed a personal brace in 78th minute to get a clearer look at the tournament's golden boot.

Despite the win, Uganda finished third to take home bronze.

Uganda missed out on a chance to qualify for the 2025 U-20 AFCON Tournament after failing to beat Tanzania in the semifinals.

Finalists, Tanzania and Kenya will represent the CECAFA region in the fourth coming continental tournament.
