Bright Stars secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over UPDF in a Uganda Premier League clash at the Kavumba Recreation Ground.

UPDF started brightly, creating several chances but failing to capitalize.

In the 10th minute, Noordin Bunjo dribbled past Denis Ssekitoleko and delivered a pinpoint cross, but Shafic Kakande headed narrowly wide.

The hosts broke the deadlock at the half-hour mark when Warren Buule guided Bunjo's well-taken corner into the back of the net with a simple touch.

Just a minute later, Ashraf Mulindi doubled the lead with a composed finish, sending the home crowd into wild celebrations.

However, Bright Stars' momentum was slightly halted when Buule was penalized for handling the ball in the box just before halftime.

UPDF's Samuel Ssekamatte confidently converted the resulting penalty to pull one back for the visitors.

Despite pressing hard for an equalizer in the second half, UPDF couldn't break through Bright Stars' resolute defense.

The win lifts Bright Stars to 14th place on the table with nine points, while UPDF remain seventh with 17 points.
