  • Wakiso Giants 1-1 SC Villa

Vipers SC secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory over URA FC in their Uganda Premier League clash at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, on Tuesday.

URA made an early tactical change, introducing Faizo Matovu for Bright Vuni in the 16th minute after the latter received an early yellow card.

The visitors had a penalty appeal waved away in the 37th minute when Isaac Ogwang went down in the box, but referee Shamira Nabadda was unmoved.

Vipers suffered a setback just before halftime as debutant Ogwang limped off with an ankle injury. Kenneth Kimera replaced him at the start of the second half.

Eight minutes into the second half, Kimera was tripped inside the box, earning Vipers a penalty. Umaru Okello stepped up and calmly slotted home to break the deadlock.

Four minutes later, Okello came close to doubling the lead, but his effort rattled the side netting as Vipers continued to dominate.

The hosts sealed the win in the 75th minute when roving left-back Enock Luyima unleashed a stunning strike from outside the box, doubling Vipers’ advantage in style.

The victory extends Vipers' lead at the top of the table to four points, while URA remains fifth with 24 points after 16 matches.

Vipers will return to action on Sunday as they visit KCCA at the MTN Omondi Stadium.
