SC Villa secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Simba FC in a Uganda Cup encounter on Wednesday evening.

Playing away at Namulanda Grounds, Villa had to dig deep to claim a spot in the round of 16.

The visitors dominated the first half, with Charles Lwanga coming close twice, but luck was not on their side.

The breakthrough came in the 50th minute when full-back Aslam Semakula found the net with a composed finish from close range.

He was set up by Ashraf Mulindi and made no mistake with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Despite Simba pushing forward in search of an equalizer, Villa’s defense remained resolute, denying the hosts any clear chances.

With this victory, SC Villa advance to the last 16 of the prestigious tournament.
