- Mbale Heroes 1-3 Lugazi
KCCA secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over UPDF in their Uganda Premier League clash at Bombo Military Barracks Grounds on Thursday.
Arafat Usama opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a stunning strike, giving the visitors an early lead. KCCA nearly doubled their advantage when Saidi Mayanja, set up by James Mubezi, narrowly missed the target.
The game took a dramatic turn in the 48th minute when KCCA was reduced to 10 men after Joel Sserunjogi received a second yellow card and was sent off.
Forced to adjust, head coach Abdallah Mubiru made a double substitution, bringing on Derrick Nsibambi and Peter Magambo for Bright Anukani and Shafik Kwikiriza.
Despite being a man down, KCCA extended their lead through Sadat Anaku, who tapped in from close range following a composed delivery from Saidi Mayanja.
With 10 minutes left to play, Samson Kigozi pulled one back for UPDF with an emphatic finish. However, the hosts were unable to find an equalizer, and KCCA held on for the win.
The victory lifts KCCA to fourth place with 31 points, while UPDF remains in 11th position with 24 points after 20 league matches.
