Uganda Premier League | Result

  • NEC 3-1 Express

NEC maintained their title hopes with a convincing 3-1 victory over Express in a Uganda Premier League clash at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

The hosts took an early lead in the third minute when Muzamir Mutyaba slotted home after a well-delivered pass from Marvin Kavuma.

Paul Mucureezi doubled NEC’s advantage with a stunning volley, expertly connecting with Kavuma’s emphatic cross from the left flank.

In response, Express head coach Badru Kaddu made an early tactical change, bringing on Daniel Shabene for Ramsey Kawooya, who had struggled to make an impact in midfield.

Despite Express pushing forward, NEC goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo produced outstanding saves to deny Joseph Zziwa and Samuel Ssenyonjo, who both tested him from distance.

NEC extended their lead in the 55th minute when Allan Mugalu capitalized on a flicked pass from Mucureezi to make it 3-0.

Express managed a consolation goal in the 82nd minute, with Conrad Ssenjogera calmly slotting past Ssebwalunyo.

The victory keeps NEC in second place with 47 points, while Express remains seventh with 28 points after 21 games.
