Uganda men's sevens team claimed gold at the African games un beaten in the round-robin tournament.
The rugby sevens won gold even before playing their last game of the tournament as Zimbabwe beat Burkina Faso, 19-00, to keep Uganda out of reach of the six competitors.
Uganda went ahead to beat Kenya 21-14 points. The Kenyans scored first before Denis Etwau responded to level matters. Philip Wokorach kicked the conversion before lighting up the match with a hat trick of brilliant solo tries for Uganda to lead by 21-07.
However, Uganda took the foot off the pedal and Kenyans needed no second invitation to score a try and snatch the bronze medal from Burkina Faso’s grasp.
The match ended 21-14 and Uganda concluded an unbeaten campaign in Accra, Ghana just as the women did.
