Uganda’s City Oilers started their Basketball Africa League (BAL) Elite 16 campaign on a strong note, defeating Fox Basketball 77-47 at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi on Thursday.
The Oilers established a significant 18-point lead (24-6) after the first quarter and maintained a comfortable 23-point advantage (44-21) at halftime.
The intensity increased in the third quarter, with City Oilers extending their lead to 31 points (65-34).
Coach Andrew Tendo rotated his squad in the final quarter, introducing Rogers Dauna, Benjamin Kawuni, Allan Ssenkubuge, and young talent Waleed Ali to secure the victory.
Germaine Roebuck led the Oilers with 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Israel Oyoro (13 points), Petty Parish (12 points), and Falando Jones (11 points) also contributed significantly to the dominant performance.
Stephen Garbrah was the only Fox player to reach double figures, scoring 11 points.
Both teams return to action tomorrow. Fox will face Urunani at 12:30 PM, while City Oilers will take on Matero Magic at 3:00 PM.
