West Nile Province registered a 2-1 victory against Bugisu Province in the the 2023 FUFA Drum at the Greenlight Stadium, Arua on Sunday.

In the 12th minute, Bugisu got the lead after a dominant display in the start of the game.

But four minutes later, West Nile was awarded a penalty after a foul in the dangerous area.

Junior Adama stepped up for the occasion and calmly placed the ball into the back of the net to level matters in the 17th minute.

Moments later, Cromwell Rwothomio attempted to get onto the scoresheet with an overhead kick but his effort went wide narrowly.

Two minutes after half an hour mark, Rashid Okocha swag in a darling freekick in search for Rwothomio but the effort hit the side net.

With six minutes to end the first stanza, Cromwell hit the crossbar after a second close attempt through a bicycle kick.

Geriga Atendele met Andama’s delivery but his powerful attempt went straight into the goalkeeper’s palms.

At the top of the hour, William Gama was sent off hence reducing West Nule to only 10 men on the field of play.

But in the 76th minute, Okocha was the hero of the as his sneaking second ball was well guided into the back of the net to give the hosts the lead.

Bugisu tried to bounce back into the game but West Nile’s backline was steady and firm to keep hold of their lead.
