Ugandan long distance runners Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo will not take part in the National Cross Country championship due February 12 in Tororo. The Olympics 2020 medalists Cheptegei and Kiplimo will be a no show as the latter has the Ras Al Khaimah also known as the RAK half marathon in the United Arab Emirates to race. Kiplimo, also the official world half marathon record holder will run in the UAE on Saturday 19. Cheptegei is also preparing for his first international race since running at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene. "He would have loved to run in Tororo but we are solely focused on his international competitive event after such a long time," coach Addy Ruiter told Vision Sports. The events in the Eastern part of the country will however be graced by 3000 metres steeplechase Olympics gold medalist Peruth Chemutai, Sarah Chelangat and Felix Chemonges. Others set to run on the weekend include Ronald Musagala, Halima Nakaayi, and Winnie Nanyondo.
