Vipers Sports Club has advanced to the semifinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after a convincing 3-1 win over Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
A first-half goal from midfielder Boboosi Byaruhanga and a second-half brace from start forward Yunus Sentamu were all the defending champions needed to progress.
Sam Senyonjo came off the bench to score the consolation for the Purple Sharks.
With the league all but secured, the win means Vipers stay on track to win a double this season which, when happens, will be their first in club history.
Byaruhanga put Vipers in the lead after 21 minutes having been played through by Frank 'Zaga' Tumwesigye.

The Venoms who had the biggest share of the ball possession could have scored more in the opening half but Ceaser Manzoki and Tumwesigye missed a couple of chances.
Five minutes into the second half, Sentamu made it two-nil for Vipers with Milton Karisa providing the assist. Sentamu would go on to complete his brace with nine minutes to play, this time Byaruhanga turning provider.
Senyonjo scored Wakiso's consolation with five minutes on the clock.
In the semifinals, Vipers join Booma United who eliminated Maroons on Friday.
