Former Uganda Cranes captain and legend Ibrahim Sekagya is excited at the new challenge before him after being named New York Red Bulls II Interim head coach.

This followed the departure of Gary Lewis who was in charge of the side until Saturday. The club decided to replace him with Sekagya who is in his eighth season as an Assistant Coach.

"Same JOURNEY,different new CHALLENGES ahead!!!!" Sekagya tweeted a photo, with words "So help me God."

This a familiar role Sekagya has been in before. He was head coach for three matches.

He brings his playing experience too as he was a former New York Red Bulls defender, retired in 2015 after making 33 appearances.

He had spent six seasons playing for Red Bull Salzburg before, where he won three Austrian Bundesliga titles and an Austrian Cup championship.
