Ugandan long-distance runner Joshua Cheptegei is recovering well ahead of the National Cross Country Championships due 10th December at Tororo Golf Course.
His nemesis Jacob Kiplimo will also feature in the events and both runners are currently preparing with all resources they can get their hands.
Cheptegei missed the Great North Run in England on September 12th, due to an injury, but according to reports by The Independent, the star is bound to return to the fray.
"I feel proud representing Uganda at International Championships, that’s why I have started the training for the event," Cheptegei told Uganda Radio Network in Kapchorwa.
Cheptegei was recently also ruled out of the 2022 Commonwealth games due to injury and body rest requirements as well.
Even after winning the Gold in the 2022 Oregon World Athletics Championships in the 10,000m men's race, he couldn't connect to Birmingham from the USA.
The National Cross Country Championships will be used to select the national team that will represent the country at the World Cross Country championships in Australia in February 2023.
Cheptegei is revered in the athletics category having won the men's race at the 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus, Denmark.
